... Coco Chanel [surname]

That's firstname - Coco, middlename - Chanel.

Is it just me, or is that truly dreadful?

Bit of a thread hijack, but DS and I heard a boy called Jinx being shouted at by his mother to "commmmmme 'eeeere" today. Even DS was a bit

DitaVonCheese · 21/02/2010 19:11

It is actually better than Coco-Chanel [surname] though, give them credit for that.

I think when choosing a name, you should do the Professions Test.

So you say each of the following -

"hello, I am your doctor, my name is Coco Chanel Smith"

"Hello class, please sit down, I am your teacher, my name is Coco Chanel Smith."

"This is the news at 10 o'clock, with me, Coco Chanel Smith..."

"I would like to introduce you to our chief physicist, Coco Chanel Smith"

and

"The country has spoken, the Lib Dems have won, our new prime minister is Coco Chanel Smith"

If it sounds stupid in those sentences, it's too stupid a name to saddle your child with

QOD · 21/02/2010 19:15

but we are used to "Tulip Musinder" and Beakie someone too!

MaisietheMorningsideCat · 21/02/2010 19:19

Ahh, but the parents may prefer the Alternative Professions Test

"And the winner of Big Brother is Coco Chanel Smith"

"And the winner of the Brit awards for best newcomer is Coco Chanel Smith"

"Coco Chanel Smith, socialite, and John-Terry Cole who plays midfield for Tottenham, announced their engagement today after meeting 6 weeks ago in a nightclub"

"Would you Snog, Marry or Avoid the glamour model Coco Chanel Smith?"

If it sounds good in those sentences, you may be quite happy to saddle your child with it

That's a bloody good point Maisie.

Exclusive in Shit! magazine - Photos of 'models' Katie Price and Coco Chanel Smith, coming out of a nightclub at 3am and falling into a taxi ...

houseworkhater · 21/02/2010 22:59

Lol at Maisie's post.

It's a bit too pretentious for my liking, like calling a child David Beckham ...surname. and so on.

Vivia · 23/02/2010 17:15

Bet the parents think it's dead classy to name their daughter 'Coco Chanel'. Coco isn't a name, it's a nickname! It's thoroughly try-hard and risks looking 'chavvy' (don't flame me I'm just saying!)

But I love the reason for Courtney Cox's daughter's name.

meadowlarks · 23/02/2010 18:59

I have a friend called Chanel...Westwood

gigismummy · 23/02/2010 21:46

it's certain to give her personality problems being compared to Coco Chanel her whole life. Poor kid.
