Its the name of a hardware shop around these parts

ChynaDoll2006 · 19/02/2010 11:35

Nah it just sounds like someone who does tasks

Flightattendant · 19/02/2010 11:36

terrible, sorry. Can you think of anything else you like?

GetOrfMoiLand · 19/02/2010 11:38

It sounds like the name of some dodgy character in a US soap such as Falcon Crest or Days or our Lives.

It is a stupid name. Call the baby Bernard or summat.

TaurielTest · 19/02/2010 11:39

Um, honestly? Makes me think of "a-tisket a-tasket a green and yellow basket". And also that it will be pronounced differently in the north and south of England, which may or may not be an issue for you.

Lizzylou · 19/02/2010 11:40

I think there is a reason that noone knows anyone called Tasker.

Don't do it

cravingcroissants · 19/02/2010 11:42

Taskers = furniture shop

thumbwitch · 19/02/2010 11:45

sounds like a dog's name to me, although not really a name at all.

belgo · 19/02/2010 11:47

Dreadful. Not a name.

Names along the same vein but are slightly better are:

Hunter
Archer
Mason

BendyBob · 19/02/2010 11:47

It sounds like a '70's detective series for some reason.

foxytocin · 19/02/2010 11:48

as in multi-Tasker?

really?

mrz · 19/02/2010 12:01

I had an uncle Tasker I always thought it was a nickname rather than his real name when I was a child. I think it was a family surname used as a first name.

Botbot · 19/02/2010 12:02

A surname as far as I'm concerned.

puffling · 19/02/2010 12:06

Why do you like it? Is it a name?

Collision · 19/02/2010 12:14

I immediately thought of Tarka the otter!!

Tasker is awful.

Depends where you live as well as to how people will say it.

Down south - TARSKER

North TASSKER

It is not a name at all imho and will be shortened to Tass or Tassy.

Ziggurat · 19/02/2010 12:34

Makes me think of that penchant some Americans have for choosing random nouns and assigning them to their children as names.

See Sarah Palin for the definitive list of said nouns:

Track
Trig
Bristol
Willow
Piper

The last 2 not as bad, but the first three? Come on...

thumbwitch · 19/02/2010 12:39

just remembered that one of the Hogs in Terry Pratchett's The Hogfather is called Tusker - a bit too close for comfort.

duchesse · 19/02/2010 12:40

Yuk. Sounds like one of Sarah Palin's boys.

duchesse · 19/02/2010 12:41

Oh god, Ziggurat just said it before me.

paisleyleaf · 19/02/2010 12:44

I know a girl called Talisker (after the distillery I guess)
LOL at multi tasker!!

Ziggurat · 19/02/2010 12:45

I agree with Duchesse! got to be one of Sarah Palin's children!

Normally I don't like 'er' names (sur names) as first names. I could rearrange my face in to a bland 'oh that's nice' for some of them though. Spencer and Fraser are nice. Cooper ,Carter, Thatcher,Parker, Hunter, all dreadful.

mathanxiety · 19/02/2010 14:29

A big rock off Wexford with a lighthouse on it.

mathanxiety · 19/02/2010 14:29

Hang on, that's Tuskar.
