I think the Madonna/Guy Richie link would put me off.

Sounds a bit like a mafia boss too.

Go for it if you like it though.

displayuntilbestbefore · 19/02/2010 11:01

I wouldn't.

DorotheaPlenticlew · 19/02/2010 11:05

I know a baby Rocco. Wasn't sure when I first heard the name because it did make me think of Madonna and also Rocco Forte hotels. But now I like it; and it suits the wee one really well.

However, the family are legitimately of quite recent Italian descent on one side, and have an Italian surname, so of course that helps it to work.

mumoftoomany · 19/02/2010 11:18

I think Ellis and Rocco go well together as they are both short and sound good together.

Sunshinemummy · 19/02/2010 11:44

I also know a Rocco and think it's a lovely name.

violethill · 19/02/2010 11:48

What Dorothea says. Ok if you are of Italian descent with a suitable surname, otherwise a rather odd and not very attractive choice.

MaggieMaeve · 19/02/2010 13:33

I love it, but unless you have an Italian connection, it's too 'sleb'. Like using Apple.

what about Roscoe with Rocco for short? that seems more original anyway.

Mung · 19/02/2010 13:34

I love it. I know a Rocco and have always loved the name.

ilovesprouts · 19/02/2010 18:42

its nice but reminds me of madonnas rocco

Jamieandhismagictorch · 19/02/2010 18:46

I wouldn't, simply because it sounds like a nickname, and is also very masculine, so a lot to live up to IYSWIM

Jamieandhismagictorch · 19/02/2010 18:51

What about :

Ellis and Jake
Ellis and James/Jamie
Ellis and Lucas/Luke
Ellis and Daniel
Ellis and Marcus

V. good Christian name,(if you are Christian)
there is a St Rocco!

I also love Otto.

dizzydixies · 20/02/2010 20:31

I too know one but they have Italian descent and their other kids have similar sounding names

janeite · 20/02/2010 20:33

Have you asked this before?

Sorry but I think it's awful and sounds as though you have celeb aspirations.

Ellis is such a lovely name - it deserves something nice to 'go' with it.
