Hi all,

jus found out today that baby 3 is going to be a little boy! We have 2 dd's who are 8 and 6, Eleanor and Isabelle who get Ellie and Izzie for short sometimes. Don't know why but had it in my head that we would def have another girl so could think of lots of girls names but finding it hard for boys names. So after lots of discussions these are some of the names which we both agree on!! My DH is Michael Andrew Pritchard, so thought about using Michael possibly as a middle name but don't have to.

Gabriel
Jude
Benjamin
Theodore (although not too sure about this one)
Adam
Charlie
Edward

Do you think they go with the Michael middle name??

Thanks for your help! Dawn

Ok in order, I think:

Edward
Benjamin
Theodore
Charlie
Jude
Adam (but doesn't flow well with Michael imo)
Gabriel (but only becasue it doesn't flow with Michael as a middle name- both are name of the major Archangels and the endings sound the same)

janeite · 18/02/2010 20:42

I love all of your names except Charlie. And I love your dds' names too. Michael is fine as a middle name with any of them but you should probably get MN to delete your op, as it 'outs' you.

MaggieMaeve · 18/02/2010 21:38

I like Charlie and Edward and Gabe/Gabriel best
Adam is nice but there are so many.
Jude is so feminine imo.
Benjamin is so popular, like Adam, a decent name, but hard to get excited about it. I do like it though.
Theodore. I used to like this, but I've gone off it now. Go For Edward/Teddy.

mummyjackson · 18/02/2010 22:48

Charlie or Edward for me!

Jude and Theo seem to be very of the moment I think.

Cadelaide · 18/02/2010 22:51

Jude is good with Michael.

I like all of the names except Adam, both of my DSs have names from your list!

displayuntilbestbefore · 18/02/2010 22:54

Benjamin and Gabriel are lovely and Theo is nice although I'm also not sure about the full name of Theodore.
Gabriel Michael end a bit too similarly IMO but Benjamin Michael is really nice sounding.

wicks · 18/02/2010 23:13

We must have similar tastes. I'm 35 weeks pg and if it's a boy, we are toting with Gabriel, Theo(dore) or Jude. Currently veering towards Gabriel. Will be interested to read the comments on your thread

wicks · 18/02/2010 23:14

'toying' not 'toting'!

SE13Mummy · 19/02/2010 00:15

Had DD2 been a boy she would have been Jude Michael so I'd go for that one from your list.

DawnyP · 19/02/2010 07:20

Thanks so far everyone it's really good to know different opinions as often family and friends don't tell you the honest truth on what they think! But at the end of the day it is up to us anyway I guess! thanks again

I like Gabriel, Jude and Benjamin best.

I also like Edward but not keen on Theodore or Charlie.

Adam is ok.
I think they all go with Micheal.

AllieW · 21/02/2010 09:10

I like Gabriel and Edward. Adam is all right but I tend to prefer Aidan or, even better, Abram (Abraham's original name).

Bonsoir · 21/02/2010 09:16

Eleanor Isabelle Gabriel

There is a bit of theme here. Is that intentional?

loobylu3 · 21/02/2010 10:39

I like them all so am trying to be picky with comments!

Gabriel - v nice, some mind find it a bit feminine
Jude - like a lot, but ditto above comment.
Benjamin- love!
Theodore (although not too sure about this one)- love Theodore (Theo a bit less)
Adam- okay, good Biblical name but slightly dull.
Charlie- like but a little babyish, prefer Charles with Charlie as a nn
Edward - love!

I love Benjamin and Edward- to great classic, followed by Theodore, Gabriel and Jude, which are fantastic too but are a little more 'current'.

Eleanor and Isabel are lovely too!

Edward by far the best in your list

reddaisy · 21/02/2010 12:24

I LOVE Jude and it is on my list for a boy if I ever have one in the future. Ben and Charlie are very popular and I know one Theo who is so gorgeous and Gabriel is a bit feminine IMO. All of them go with Michael though I think.

Theodore and Edward are both on my list but not sure I like Eleanor and Theodore together. You can't go wrong with a classic like Edward tho.

As a pp pointed out the repetative 'el' sounds in Eleanor, Isabelle and Gabrielle don't seem to work for me.

Jude sounds a bit 'blunt' next to your girls names. Have you considered Julius?

I personally find Adam a bit bland (sorry to any parents of Adam's, but that's jmo).

Charlie will date terribly but Charles is fab with your girls names and Charles Michael is particularly lovely.

Benjamin is ok...prefer Benedict.

So in order of preference for your sibset I would say:

  1. Charles
  2. Edward
  3. Benjamin
nappyaddict · 21/02/2010 14:50

Don't like Theo but would use Theodore or Theobald.

Don't like Edward but would use Edwin, Edmund, Edbert, Edgar or Edison.

Teddy could be a nickname for any of the above names.

Don't like Benjamin but would use Benedict.

Or how about Benson, Bennett, Bentley or Benton if you like that sort of thing.

nappyaddict · 21/02/2010 14:51

Oh love Gabriel and Jude BTW.

Wolfblass · 21/02/2010 20:36

My gorgeous little man who turned 11 months yesterday is Gabriel so i'm rather biased on that count (although not sure on the flow of Gabriel Michael at all!)

I also love Jude

Edward is a good strong name aswell and sounds fabulous with Michael

I am not keen on Charlie, (far too common imo)

Benjamin i love but always rule it out due the the nn's (Ben and Benji are dogs names in our families lol)

Adam i find a little plainer than your other choices

Like Theo, NOT Theodore, i just think annoying chipmunks, Alvin, Simon, du du dudududu..sorry!
