Do I go with a traditional name or something abit different?

Absolutley no idea for the middle name either, our surname starts with a B and is two syllables.

Ds is called Robert. Opinions please......

Catherine lovely and classic

Bumperlicious · 14/02/2010 16:01

No, not Araminta, I'm sorry, don't like it at all.

Kyrie · 14/02/2010 16:11

Out of the two I'd go for Araminta, it's not madly different but just a bit more unique than Catherine which is slightly dull imo.

Bucharest · 14/02/2010 16:13

Catherine.

CrowAndAlice · 14/02/2010 16:16

Love Minty - reminds me of Moondial - but then i'm old .

Lighteningbugs · 14/02/2010 16:17

Why not
Catherine Araminta B **

Sounds very elegant to me

then she could be Cat Caty or Minty for short.

rockinghertosleep · 14/02/2010 16:19

Catherine

MoreCrackThanHarlem · 14/02/2010 16:21

Araminta is my very very bestest name of all time, but dh turned his nose up. Shed tears over it

Gorgeous name, myriad shortenings- mimi, minta, minty, minnie etc.
Love it, with Catherine as a middle name too

Araminta is the name I'd love to use, but wouldn't get to, and Catherine is my name, which I've always been happy with, Araminta Catherine is wonderful

MaggieMaeve · 14/02/2010 18:29

obviously Catherine!

specialmagiclady · 14/02/2010 18:31

I have a couple of people in my life called Araminta. When the little one's dad went into work after she was born and told his colleagues what she was called, one of them said, "WHAT??? Alan Minter?"

But then people will always have opinions. Stick with the one you truly love and think Minty Kate sounds gorgeous!

mummyloveslucy · 14/02/2010 19:01

I love Catherine. It's a beautiful classic name.
Not too keen on Araminta at all.

cityangel · 14/02/2010 20:00

I don't like either nickname Cat or Minty...

What about

Kaitlin
Kailyn
Kathleen
Arabella
Argenta
Misty

Although they could be Kate, Kat or Bella....

randomimposter · 14/02/2010 20:38

PMSL at "Alan Minter" - that is funny!!

Actually I love Araminta, but don't think it flows with Robert very well. OTOH Catherine is lovely, sounds great with Robert and there are great NNs.

Catherine Araminta B..... could work, unless you are worried about CAB initials?

love cathrine, my little niece is cathrine (cassie of short)

Doozie · 15/02/2010 12:45

Catherine definitely! Beautiful and classic. Use Araminta as a middle name.

CuppaTeaJanice · 15/02/2010 12:52

Moondial was one of my favourite books, but Araminta sounds a bit culinary to me. Catherine is nice but a bit dull.

mummyjackson · 15/02/2010 13:07

Alan Minter - brilliant!

Catherine for me although I prefer Katherine.

sleepyhead3 · 15/02/2010 15:37

Catherine is beautiful and classic!

TheFallenMadonna · 15/02/2010 15:39

Catherine. Lovely, and uncommon now if you care about that sort of thing.

Blanchet · 15/02/2010 16:28

Ooh, Catherine. Do not like Araminta one bit, and would hate to be called Minty. I think Catherine is very pretty, but also understated and elegant (and flexible - lots of nicknames, all of which beat Minty . Also, there really aren't very many little Catherines at all, so it may not appear as dull to her peers as it does to some posters.

MissHavishamsDress · 16/02/2010 22:26

Love Araminta, Catherine is pleasant but rather dull. Let's face it, Henry VIII had 3 wives with the name, divorced 2 and had another beheaded!!There is a writer of EFL textbooks called Araminta - often glance at her name at work, think 'What a fabulous name1!' and momentarily fancy it for a possible future second dd. She will always be Pearl, though.

nooka · 17/02/2010 05:22

Catherine. I'm not keen on Araminta at all. To me it's a slightly comedy Sloane sort of name.
