We have two grogeous children dd aged 6 and ds aged 10 months and are hoping to concieve dc no. 3 this year . Both of our children are G's.

Over sunday lunch in our local village pub we have been throwing out names

The firm favourite for a girl at the moment (that we both agree on) is Felicity, not a name we've mentioned beforehand.

We like William for a boy (after OH's Grandad)popular maybe - (not something we are keen about, prefer something not - but collectively we adore it)

Opinions please

My eldest daughter (now 14) is Felicity and although we get many complaints from her about her middle name, she has never said she did not like her first name. I have never met anyone who did not say they thought it was a lovely name either, not even a look. Universal vote of approval has been our experience. Plus there's the added bonus of the Felicity Wishes series of books for when she's 5 or 6 and just getting into reading (motivation!).

I'm due in 8 weeks and if baby is a girl she will be called Felicity. I just adore the name so much.

I am called Felicity and my nickname which I am more known by is Fliss. I hate Flick.... I dont understand where it comes from relating to the name. Never heard of Lissy but think it's nice. The older I get the more Felicity grows on me and I am proud of my name and I am probably the only Felicity my friends have ever met :)

It took me over three weeks to name my 4 week old who is called Martha Felicity-Rose. We must be thinking on the same wave length Wink

DD1 was very nearly named Felicity (with Mary as her middle name) but DH felt she looked more like a Harriet Hmmso we went with that instead. I still love the name (and meaning) Felicity.

I try not to say horrible things about names on here but as you are playing with the name and not chosen it yet and you have asked - I don't like it. It makes me think of someone who is prim and proper - like Verity.

remaincalm · 07/10/2010 14:43

Earlier in the thread I said that I would call my baby Felicity if my baby was a girl. I now have a Felicity Olivia and I am so happy with the name choice. We call her Lissie for short.

persephoneplum · 10/10/2010 13:14

Felicity is lovely, but then I have a Felix so I'm definitely biased towards it. It's so fresh and light without being childish. I love it :)

William is lovely if it's honouring someone - if it's set in stone then it is and it's quite handsome at that.

zozzle · 10/10/2010 22:08

Too girly and frilly for my tastes but ok and Flic/Flick is a nice nn - or is it Fliss?

Linnet · 10/10/2010 22:11

I love the name Felicity. If I had another dd that is what I would call her.

Dibbydab · 10/10/2010 22:28

I have a 10 week old Felicity so I'm biased Smile - only received positive reactions when she's been introduced to people, though lots of people asking how to spell it Hmm err, the usual way, how else would you spell it? Felicitay? Falissity?

dexifehatz · 11/10/2010 19:36

My 20 month old is a Felicity Faith and boy does it suit her! We call her Fliss or Fe and my father calls her Filly.Great now Felicity Kendal is back in the limelight!

lazycow007 · 11/10/2010 19:46

It's a gorgeous name and one my sis had lined up only she had a DS. Have a friend with same name and she is Feli for short which I always thought was pretty!

Not keen on Gabriel - seems too flowery/floaty for a boy plus nn would be Gay which is awful imo. William on the other hand is a great strong name which can't be disliked.
