we have dc2 due in april, and have our boys names sorted (well, two finalists, so we have it nailed). Girls' names are proving very hard, there are so many we like but not sure of.

Now living in Spain, so benefit from very popular UK names not being found everywhere here, but also want it to be easily pronounced.

What do you think of these:

Isabella
Aurora
Emma
Kitty
Amelie
Valentina

Our surname begins with N, and sounds nice with any option. Other suggestions welcome for an elegant, feminine, strong name.

Ta!!

Valentina is lovely and striking! I also like Emma and Kitty (though I prefer it as a nickname for Katherine... or Catalina since you're in Spain!). Prefer Isabel to Isabella, plus Isabel is the traditional Spanish form so would certainly fit in (unless it's an old lady name in Spain?? I have no idea).

Amelie looks like it might be less than ideal in Spain, and correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't Aurora be pronounced "ow-rora", as in rhymes with "how", in Spanish?

Also, what about

Serena
Lydia

I most like Valentina from your list. Pretty names all of them.

Ooh, it's difficult to choose between these names. They are all lovely.

I think my favourites are Amelie, Isobella, and Emma. I also love Amelia.

Not much help really, but you couldn't go wrong with any of these names.

GladioliBuckets · 10/02/2010 17:18

Oh def Valentina, that's fab.

AllieW · 12/02/2010 19:01

I love Isabella and Amelie. Since she's due in April, how about April? I think it's pretty and quite unusual.

Valentina is just divine.

I think Aurora would cause you no end of grief with pronunciation/spelling.

The rest are yawnsville.
