Ladies, DD4 due in a couple of weeks - thought we had a name sorted, but now in crisis. Don't want to give other DDs names to you for fear for losing anonymity but, if you had to choose, what would you go from from this list ::

Anna
Anya
Natasha
Lucy
Georgia

and why ?

Oh, and Phoebe as well. But our surname begins with B - is that too difficult to say ?

I would keep Anna, Anya and Lucy. Anna is timeless and sweet, Anya is pretty and distinctive while being simple, and I've always liked Lucy.

I really like Phoebe a lot but perhaps not ideal with a B surname... though not disastrous (unless it's "Phoebe Bilberbee", a picture book I still remember from childhood!). Something simple like Phoebe Brown could work fine.

Natasha seems very dated, 70s/80s/90s, and I've never been fond of it, sounds and looks kind of harsh to me.

Georgia is fine, just not my taste especially, and feels very 'this decade' (or possibly 'last decade').

Hulababy · 09/02/2010 17:59

I like Anna best.

CantSleepWontSleep · 09/02/2010 18:10

Natasha or Phoebe definitely.

dizzydixies · 09/02/2010 18:16

anna and congrats, very

KeyOui · 09/02/2010 18:32

I'd go for Natasha from your list, it's not overused and it's a pretty girl's name but also a name to be taken seriously with ? quite a hard combo to find.

thisisyesterday · 09/02/2010 18:51

i like all except Georgia

electra · 09/02/2010 18:59

Anna is my favourite

mathanxiety · 09/02/2010 19:18

Anna -- Love; timeless and elegant
Anya -- meh
Natasha --Love; stylish and unusual, and I agree with KeyOui.
Lucy -- Love; same as Anna
Georgia -- No

Doozie · 09/02/2010 19:23

Anna is the best - classic and timeless

Phoebe lovely, but doesn't go with a B surname IMO.

Natasha I like the least. Just doesn't do it for me.

LaDiDaDi · 09/02/2010 20:05

I love Phoebe, think about the overall sound of the name rather than just the first initial.

Like all of the others; Natasha probably the most underused at present. Anya on a definite upward trend atm.

FourLittleDucks · 09/02/2010 20:53

Thanks Ladies, although between you all you've said that you like them all the best !
Agree with the Phoebe thing - I know it wouldn't bother some people and actually I knew a Phoebe B that I didn't even think about, but its the sort of thing that would actually really annoy me now!

What sort of nicknames would Natasha get ? Not sure I like Nat or Tash - and we are definitely a nick-naming type of family !!

What about Alice ?

Anna has been our favourite up til now, and it was only today that I wondered whether its a little bit bland or character-less ?

Like Anna
Love Anya
Don't like Natasha as I am not keen on 'Tasha'
Like Lucy
Like Georgia - had it in mind in case DS1 was a girl in 2005, but didn't consider it in 2006 or 2008. Not overly keen on 'George' either for a girl.

Those are my mumblings.

cece · 09/02/2010 22:14

Anna - lovely
Anya - like this too
Natasha - don't like how it gets shortened to Tash
Lucy - a bit pony set but still quite like it
Georgia - quite like this too!
Phoebe - depends how it sounds with your last name, but I do like it too

Oh dear not much help then really...

Top choice would be Anna.

mummyjackson · 09/02/2010 22:14

LUCY!! Love Lucy.

I like Lucy and Anna best from your list. Phoebe would work so long as your surname doesn't begin with a 'bee' sound. So Phoebe Blue/Brown/Bramble/Brian/Bartholomew or something would sounds fine but not Phoebe Beatle/Beetroot/Beale!

Apologies for the dodgy examples!
