i like the name but would make the initails FEM. in was thinking of going the oposite way around but it just doesnt seem right.
her name would be Florence eleanor...i have liked it since i was having Ds and he also has a traditional boys name. i know people are going to say im naming her after an old lady but i dont care...its just the initials.

I love the name Florence - DD1 is called Florence Amelie, although we tend to call her Florrie most of the time. Not many other little Florences around although I have come across a couple now aged about 10-12 years.

DD'd middle name is my grasnny'd first name -- so obviously her great-grandmother. I loved my granny dearly and miss her still. And i have carried her memory on through my daughter it that is just plain cool any way you slice. Names that have meanings are so much nicer. It tells a tale about who you are and where you come from. I say go for it.

Besides, when she is a toddler you can spend your days yelling "NO FLO!" and be a poet.

Couldn't agree more - Strix

I am named after my two grandmothers - my first name was very unfashionable at the time as a result, and considered very old-lady. However now that I am an adult, it seems to be more popular (Isobel).

If this one is a girl, then she will be named after my Mum who died 7 years ago, with DH's Mum's name as a middle name.

I think it's so nice to have that link with the past.

Both names are absolutely lovely. My DD has my grandmother's name as a middle name (Lily) and if I have another girl, I'll be using DH's grandmother's name (Violet) as the middle name. I think it is lovely to have a link to your past and Florence is just beautiful
