What do you think of the name Bronte for a girl?

I would think it is a better name for a boy

shushpenfold · 07/02/2010 12:33

Honestly - not great! A different spelling would be better - Bronty, if you;re really keen.

theagedparent · 07/02/2010 12:38

Reminds me of the film Green Card that was out quite a few years ago, not keen I'm afraid.

PuppyMonkey · 07/02/2010 12:40

Bit pretentious. Are you a big fan of the writers? Disagree it would be for a boy actually, definitely a girl's name, if a bit of a silly one.

monetinfebruary · 07/02/2010 12:46

I'm not a big fan of the Brontes, no. But I don't think I'd have thought of it, if not for the writers.

Not a good choice. I'm not a fan of surnames as first names but especially not for girls.

Heated · 07/02/2010 12:50

Know a sibset called Bronte and Dante, am very definitely not keen.

shushpenfold · 07/02/2010 12:55

I think it has links to silly names like Maddison, McKenzie etc - but as far as these sort of names go, I think that Bronte and Darcy are both fairly pretty and inoffensive.

cece · 07/02/2010 13:10

Not for me I am afraid.

scottishmummy · 07/02/2010 13:23

bronte and dante.too twee

Wolfblass · 07/02/2010 14:00

Another one here who's not a fan of surnames for forenames and i do think it't a little pretentious too.

How about Bronwyn or Darcy
