It was Faraday's surname iirc.

LowLevelWhingeing · 07/02/2010 12:14

nah.

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 07/02/2010 12:49

Nope. Too american sounding for my taste. Then the word itself is a bit girly. Fara - day. IMO names ending with 'day' are feminine usually.

Heated · 07/02/2010 12:51

Middle-name territory only.

PuppyMonkey · 07/02/2010 12:53

I thought of Lost too. Very silly name imho. Go for Sawyer.

BendyBob · 07/02/2010 12:54

A bit trying too hard there, imo.

But hey if you like it and all that...

Could turn into Far-Away at school I suspect.

MadOldCrone · 07/02/2010 12:57

Shocking name.

Ziggurat · 07/02/2010 13:05

I knew an adult female Faraday in the 70s. I seem to remember that she was very glamourous. I suspect she might have been Middle Eastern, and that her name was spelt differently though. Farideh perhaps.

On that basis I like it. But for a girl. Unless you are a big sciencey type in which case it would be geekily chic for a boy and a bit cool.

Hulababy · 08/02/2010 18:01

I don't like it. It doesn't sound like a real first name.

Otter, you have reminded me I met a Faraday (or so it was pronounced) recently who was Middle European or Middle Eastern. Nice name for a girl. Girly name for a boy.

GrimmaTheNome · 08/02/2010 18:40

If you really want to name your son using the surname of a famous scientist, Davy would be a lot better.
