Adaptable names?

gothgirl77 · 05/02/2010 15:40

DH and self really like the idea of a name you can do a lot with (we both shorten ours and the abbreviations are a lot more 'us' than our 'real' names iyswim). I liked Rebecca for that but our friend has just used it for her DD. No idea if DC is a boy or a girl.

Any thoughts from MNers on adaptable names?

We chose Matilda as it has so many possible nicknames.

Can be Tilda,Tilly etc. Or Mattie, Mat etc.

Elizabeth also has loads of possibilities (Betty being my fave)

Hopefully soeone who has more ideas than me will be along soon

Fab - thanks everyone!

Patrick is a favourite of mine but three people in my family already have it.. (the joys of a big family ) Same problem for Charlotte, James, Catherine, Isabella, Elizabeth, Nicholas and Alexander (unfortunately my whole family seems to like names that can be shortened too.. ah well)

I do like Frances and Theresa for a girl - DH still needs convincing on Theresa but there's still a few months to go yet
