I like it but prefer Lucian.

PandaG · 05/02/2010 13:34

Malfoy, baddy from Harry Potter - sorry. I wouldn't be able to think of anything else.

Blanchet · 05/02/2010 13:36

ooh no... it just sounds evil, I think that's why JK Rowling chose it. it also sounds like an adjective of some kind: "oooh, i'm feeling a bit lucius this morning" or "all right, all right, there's no need to be so blooming lucius about it!"

DrivenToDistraction · 05/02/2010 13:46

The conection with Harry Potter would put me off TBH.

Lucian is fab.

joanne34 · 05/02/2010 13:47

Hmmmm.... I like it, but it's just not the one...

Who was Lucian ? The Lucians ? Is that Bible related ?

OP posts:
RatherBeOnThePiste · 05/02/2010 13:48

Malfoy

shoobidoo · 05/02/2010 14:28

All these names are derived from Lucifer - not a good association.

joanne34 · 05/02/2010 14:57

Lucifer being the devil ?

Hmmmmm.....

OP posts:
Blanchet · 05/02/2010 15:25

no... they're not from Lucifer! They are related to Lucy meaning 'light', from the Latin. Lucifer may also come partly from 'light', but the other names didn't spin off from it!

still.... the Lucifer similarity is not much of a bonus!

Cortina · 05/02/2010 15:59

Think it's fab and think it will catch on, maybe the new Arlo?

SqueezyB · 05/02/2010 17:11

all I think is Malfoy, sorry! And I imagine Harry Potter will be read in schools for years to come so kids are bound to make the connection.

How about Lucas? Or Luca?

lockets i meant that lucy, lucian and lucius are all related, not that any of them came from lucifer (though apparently the "luc" bit of lucifer is the same "luc" in the other names, from 'lux' = light).

am i being clear as mud?

sayanything · 05/02/2010 20:41

Malfoy association for me too, sorry.

Lucifer actually means the bearer of light, which is quite lovely, no?
