Tess or Imogen?

I think we've whittled down our girls list to these 2 names, what do you think?

Tessa May - shortened to Tess or Tessie. (I wanted Teresa as full name but DH vetoed it!) My favourite!

Imogen May - I do love the name but can't shake the feeling it's a bit posh - is that just me? It's DH's favourite, he likes the fact there are lots of NNs - Immy, Midge etc, but it's still a grown-up name.

DD is Polly Jean

Imogen May

Skegness · 05/02/2010 13:00

Quite like both but would choose Tess, personally. Tess is probably more unusual at the moment, if that matters?

randomimposter · 05/02/2010 13:02

I think Polly and Tess go really well, and better than Polly/Immy or alternative.

Am not keen on Tessa or Teresa though as full names personally. Not sure what I would shorten Tess from though... (not very helpful!!). Actually I think I would go Theresa of the 2 options

I just think Imogen is a bit over-used.

bourboncreme · 05/02/2010 13:11

Really like both but Tessa the best,we liked it but our surname starts with a s so not so good ,only thing about Tessie is that it makes me think of Tesse bear in Noddy!

Imogen quite popular at the moment but still lovely

Blanchet · 05/02/2010 13:15

I prefer Tess. Bit tired of Imogen, and dislike "Immy" and "Midge".

Wolfblass · 05/02/2010 13:36

DP loved Imogen when i was pg with our DD (now 6) and she would of been Imogen May but is Georgia Mae (i vetoed it as wasn't keen on Immy) although i now love it.

Tess or Tessa i have a personal dislike, as if i know someone who has had a pet called a certain name, i cannot match it to a baby / human.

Tommy · 05/02/2010 13:38

I think Tessa is lovely. There are far too many Imogens around IMO

passionberry · 05/02/2010 13:42

Wolfblass - how weird, I am torn between Imogen and Georgia at the moment! Might even go for Imogen Georgia.

I like Tessa as well and it's probably the more orignal choice ATM.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 05/02/2010 14:21

I think that since DD is Polly I prefer Polly and Imogen.

treacletart · 05/02/2010 14:24

My dd is an Imogen she's only 2.5 but we haven't met another yet. We call her Mimi for short.

mathanxiety · 05/02/2010 14:37

Tess, definitely.

SqueezyB · 06/02/2010 11:42

Hmm, interesting, a pretty even split!

I am definitely leaning more towards Tess, I can see myself with Polly and Tess. But Imogen is so pretty too - would probably go for Tess Imogen if we didn't have to go with May for MN (DD has my mum's name for MN, ergo this one HAS to have MIL's name or there will be fireworks!)

Passionberry - i love your style

Immogen Georgia or Georgia Imgoen how lovely!

Ours is known as George or Georgie for short, (sometimes even GM as she is after all Georgia-Mae)

champagnesupernova · 06/02/2010 15:25

I love Imogen and indeed all the NNs but have met a fair few recently sadly.

It's totally on my list for a girl when we get round to having one

serinBrightside · 07/02/2010 21:15

Tess,(although I might have to call her Teresa when DH wasn't around!).

Heated · 07/02/2010 21:18

Tess, shortened from Therese (rather than Teresa) or Tessa would be beautiful.

soda1234 · 07/02/2010 23:59

Our new kitten is Tess. Only because we won't be having any more children!! Any dd we might have had would certainly have been a Tess

StrictlyKatty · 08/02/2010 20:44

Anything that reminds me of the horrid Tess Daly is a big NO!

Imogen all the way.

PartialToACupOfMilo · 20/02/2010 20:53

I have a 3 month old Tess, so obviously I love the name and am somewhat biased. Everyone always comments on how lovely it is and I actually call her Tessie Bear (a la Noddy) on a regular basis

ilovesprouts · 20/02/2010 20:56

i love imogen was on my list too but had boy !!

SqueezyB · 20/02/2010 22:20

PTACOM, is your Tess a Teresa or Tessa? Or just Tess? Just wondering!

KnitterInTheNW · 07/03/2010 20:12
