Love it, I do prefer the it spelt Lawrence but makes no difference to it being a great name.

I have a Lawrence. He is 18 now. There were no other Lawrences when he was named.

He gets called Lol mostly though.

I like it and I really like Laurie. I do prefer the Lawrence spelling but I totally understand MrsvWoolf thinking it too surnamey compared to Laurence - I usually feel the same way about names but I imagine Lawrence as a more handsome guy than Laurence!

If you loved Laurie in Little Women, why not just call him Laurie? But then I am biased - DS1 is Laurie, and am get comments a lot about what a lovely name it is.

It's great, except that 50% of people will spell it Lawrence, which will piss him/you off his whole life!

Love this name - it's gorgeous. Prefer Laurence spelling as well. Love Laurie as a NN - also like Lol. You have to use this name!

I realise this is an old thread but I am seriously considering Laurie for my ds due in July. Would prefer just Laurie rather than Laurence but wondering.. how would most of you pronounce Laurie.. law -rie or Lorrie?? I think I would say Lorrie if seen written down and seems to me the male version where as Law-rie could be female?

Laurence is a girls name imo. It is the female version of Laurent.

Just like Florence is the female version of Florent.

Laurie is very girly too and too similar to Laura imo.

I'd go for Lawrence is you must.

Our local pervert was called Uncle lol (Lollipop), but his real name was Laurence. Sorry but I cannot get past that.
