"Ahhhhh no wonder why it's so bitchey here today.... full moon tomorrow.."

No, it's because Pip and Pippin are shite names.

pixiestix · 29/01/2010 23:15

Pip is fine.
If I met a grown man called Pippin I would probably piss myself, sorry.

seeker · 29/01/2010 23:24

It's really not bitchy to try to stop someone calling an adult man Pippin. It's an act of mercy.

joanne34 · 30/01/2010 09:09

It is rude and quite obviously bitchey to say it's a shite name !
If you don't like it, then just say that. Some of the posts on here are pathetic.

Thankyou everyone else for your constructive comments.

name of a jack russell

ronx · 30/01/2010 13:30

I never understand why people get upset about posting baby names here. joanne34 - you asked for opinions ... and you got them!

FoxForceFive · 30/01/2010 13:44

Cox's Orange Pippin - tis an apple.

seeker · 30/01/2010 15:27

It might be rude, joanne, but it's not bitchy!

mrschigur · 30/01/2010 15:50

It seems a bit silly to chose your child's name with the expectation that he is going to have certain personality traits or interests.

I can't imagine anyone who would thank you for Pippin mind you - apart from a bully looking for easy material. It just isn't a human name.

Anything beginning with 'P' could have Pip as a nickname.

tartyhighheels · 30/01/2010 15:58

Oh my goodness woman, reign those bloody hormones in... Be a bit sensible, call the baby Philip and Pip at home. Please do not saddle a grown man with a cutesy name - it really is a bad show.

And Pippin.... do you even have to ask?

Maybe get a hamster or three and get your naming strangeness out of the way before the baby arrives?

CornishKK · 30/01/2010 16:11

Pip is lovely & on my list for the next one, ignore these bad tempered posters. When your Pip is grown up he'll be from a generation of Frufru, Trixiebelle, Febreze Briquettes and his name will seem positively normal.

Pippin is not good though.

ronx · 30/01/2010 17:33

"When your Pip is grown up he'll be from a generation of Frufru, Trixiebelle, Febreze Briquettes and his name will seem positively normal."

This is not a good thing

fruitstick · 30/01/2010 18:28

Joanne, you clearly don't read the baby name threads very often.

We may have been rude, pathetic and bitchy. However, we are posting what every other person will be thinking when they say out loud 'ooh that's different'.

We have tried to guide you towards alternatives but if you are that set on Pippin, go ahead, nowt to do with us.

carocaro · 30/01/2010 18:55

Pip

No don't like.

Sounds like an annoying pompus character from the Famous Five.

Sorry.

And Pippin is like some Victorian beggar character from Charles Dickens.

NO NO NO NO NO.

Again sorry.

mumoverseas · 31/01/2010 08:15

My baby boy has been ill and this morning was treated by a lovely FEMALE nurse called Pippin

SoupDragon · 31/01/2010 09:38

"It is rude and quite obviously bitchey to say it's a shite name !"

No, it's offering my honest opinion. If you don't want opinions, don't ask. It would be rude and bitchy to say it about an actual child named that but this is not the case.

LynetteScavo · 31/01/2010 09:59

Thisn is why I dont' "get" baby name threads.

People ask for an opinion, and when they gat an honest answer they get upset.

If you like a name use it, and stop worying what everybody else thinks.

My Dad had a freind called Pip....as as child I thought it was ridiculous.

LynetteScavo · 31/01/2010 10:01

Oh, and I had a hamster called pip,(becuase his eyes were like apple pips) but he escaped after I'd had him about 2 weeks, and the cat got him. I named his replacement Nelson.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 31/01/2010 10:50

Aww Come Outside is going to be around forever. If she goes it'll be like Christmas without Morecambe and Wise, Only Fools and Horses, Dr Who etc. Cbeebies just would not be the same without the episode where she goes to a shit farm.

piprabbit · 31/01/2010 11:03

Look at my name - in honour of my pet bunny and shortened from Pippin - which is short for Cox's Orange Pippin ('cos he had orange fur).

Fine for a pet.

Not so good as the given name for anyone - boy or girl.

AitchTwoOhOneOh · 31/01/2010 11:10

lol at this thread. pippin is not good. pip, tbh, is a bit wank as well, but tolerable.

LynetteScavo · 31/01/2010 14:52

A boy called Pipin would either end up like the boy called Sue, or a gay thespian.
