Boss Hogg?

NotAnOtter · 25/01/2010 22:30

and gladstone

Vulgar · 25/01/2010 22:57

I'm old enough to think of Emperor Roscoe

JeMeSouviens · 25/01/2010 23:06

We use that as a nickname for our friend called Ross.

LowLevelWhingeing · 25/01/2010 23:12

Makes me think of American pioneer types due to Midlake song Roscoe:

"Whenever I was a child I wondered what if my name had changed into something more productive like Roscoe"

Terrible grammar, nice song.

LowLevelWhingeing · 25/01/2010 23:12

Oh, and I think it's a cool name.

neolara · 25/01/2010 23:17

Roscoe P Coltrane - Dukes of Hazard. Or am I just showing my age?

HaveToWearHeels · 25/01/2010 23:22

neolara I was thinking the same thing

MaggieTaSeFuar · 26/01/2010 00:34

i love it! very cool. i think it works because it's like a cross between ross and hugo/jago i can just see a baby Roscoe.

i love quirky names though. i also like bruce, donald, victor, howard..

my dad's cousin who is about 75 is a roscoe so i would have been embarrassed to use it in case he thought it was a bit odd. but other than that, it was so near the top of my list.

RobynLou · 26/01/2010 00:38

Rosco is a huge brand of scenic paint used in theatre/film...that's the first thing I thought of.

ninedragons · 26/01/2010 04:37

It's the sort of name that self-consciously cool parents (eg Fatboy Slim and Zoe what's her name) might bestow on their unfortunate offspring, who will end up changing it in the year between school and university, where he'll be studying Social Work or primary teaching.

Awful. Really, truly awful. If I saw it on my DD's class list, I would assume the parents were wankers.

bellissima · 26/01/2010 09:14

Emperor again.

Bonsoir · 26/01/2010 09:22

As others have said, it's a very self-conscious name, chosen for maximum impact IMO. Yuck.

MavisEnderby · 26/01/2010 09:24

Dukes of Hazard .

Shows age and prediliction for crap American telly as a child

Pineapplechunks · 26/01/2010 09:27

Lets go Roscoe!

I'm assuming I know that saying because, firstly my Dad used to say it to me as a child, and I guess he must have got it from Dukes of hazard?

mama2moo · 26/01/2010 11:18

OMG I love it!!! If I was having a boy I would pinch your idea! I wish I was having a boy now

DP loved Dukes of Hazzard as a boy

MaggieTaSeFuar · 26/01/2010 13:46

ninedragons, it is a bit cool i admit, but it could be Ross if he does become a social worker!!!

also, give me roscoe over woody any day of the week!

sarahsyrup · 28/01/2010 14:08

Boss Hogg, sorry.

theowlwhowasafraidofthedark · 28/01/2010 14:23

urgh

passionberry · 29/01/2010 12:32

I love it! I love the Midlake song as well and it makes me think of the great outdoors!

Could always be Ross or Rossy for short?

shitforbrains · 12/07/2010 13:48

ninedragons...roffle

I must be a wanker then ;)

ShowOfHands · 12/07/2010 13:52

I'm a wanker.

My dd is adamant that if we ever provide her with a brother, we will call him Roscoe Saul. She is 3.2 and decided this about 6 months ago.

I like it a lot.

mrsruffallo · 12/07/2010 13:53

I love it

shitforbrains · 12/07/2010 14:14

I'm quite content being thought of as a wanker.

I may have more DC and may exhibit further wanker tendencies in the future.

I'm cool with it.

And I'm not married to Fatboy Slim either.

Pasiphae · 12/07/2010 14:27

I like it.
I think adventurer, sailor etc when I hear that name.
It's cool!
