Really struggling for names and wondering what people thought of Brody? is it awful (hormones causing me loads of problems with these names!) - DD is Iona - problem is would want a more 'formal' version and all I have come up with is Broderick?? friend suggested Broden - but thinking this just sounds made up??

please be honest!

I still love Noah, but no further on at pursuading OH - only other one is harrison (harry) but again OH says too popular (which to be fair was my problem) I have come up with lots but he isn't keen

He likes Theodore (i don't)
mightbe able to compromise with 'Isaac' but just doesn't feel like his name

I just want it sorted as very anxious about it as lost DD1 at 26 weeks (which i am today) due to severe rapid onset pre-eclampsia, which they have just said i have again - i just want his name sorted as i do not want to be naming a dead baby (sorry if too much info) and fingers crossed everything will be ok this time, but i want baby to have a name in his own right not one just given because the worst happens and OH goes with what i want

Love Iona

Not keen on Brodie or any of the extensions of it. If your DH likes Theodore, what about Ted? Some friends of ours have just called their new baby Ted and I think it's great!

Also Ned is good, if you're a bit posh. Noah is nice, but Noah and Iona a bit similar?

Have you been on www.nymbler.com ? It generates name suggestions for you if you input names you like and add names you don't to a 'yuk don't like it' list. It's very addictive tho, be warned...

Brody is a bit cool, put possibly a bit chav (sorry ). Wasn't one of the men in Jaws a Brody?

What about Bruno? (which I love and am determined to get someone to use!)

Ned is great . And Noah is lovely.

Another vote for Bruno here - do you remember the Richard Scarry books? There was a Bruno in there and it's a lovely name.

i like brodie - my instinct is to go for the 'ie' rather than 'y' but that might be cause i'm in edinburgh and see deacon brodie's name around a lot - actually do you want your son associated with deacon brodie? i don't know... are you scottish? i assume so with an iona.

i have a relative called brodie but he's about 12 now (i think) - i'd check first that it's not become too common.

You looking for a scottish name? Iona is lovely.

Logan
Dougray (I would shorten to Gray..)
Rory

don't like Bruno!
No not scottish just liked name Iona (taughted a couple of them!) so no reason for going for anything else scottish, other name we both think is 'ok' is Isaac.... but nothing 'feels right'

I don't think it's awful but I don't really like it.

Ned is awful and if you're Scottish then you really can't use it. It'd be the equivalent of naming your child chav or thug.

Noah is wonderful.
