Paolosgirl · 21/01/2010 16:59

I actually quite like it - for some strange reason!

BellasYummyMummy · 21/01/2010 17:01

bizarre isnt it? my DH went on and on during my first pregnancy and i was like oh shut up! but we had a girl, and now this time round everyone is saying looks like a boy, and i really really like it, but we're worried about what everyones reactions would be!

Biscuit
SilveryMoon · 21/01/2010 17:02

Sorry, I don't like it.
When I was pregnant with ds1, I wanted to call him Ford. Thank God dp was there to talk me out of it. I'd regret it now.

NeedCoffee · 21/01/2010 17:04

Not sure what I think tbh. I don't hate it, although my local pub is called The Apollo, so I'm not going to am I

Bucharest · 21/01/2010 17:06

Yes it's crazy.
Unless there's a sibling called Sputnik in which case it's lovely.

Tamarto · 21/01/2010 17:06

All that springs to mind is Apollo Creed from the Rocky films.

thighsmadeofcheddar · 21/01/2010 17:09

horrible, sorry.

oldandknackered · 21/01/2010 20:36

Love it. I suggested it when I was expecting DS2.

I also love Milan.

Hullygully · 21/01/2010 20:38

Not unless you're Greek.

yama · 21/01/2010 20:40

Tasty character out of Battlestar Gallactica so I like it!

crankytwanky · 21/01/2010 20:44

I love it!

(Stashes it away for possible boy.)

I do like very classical names.

Yama is it from Battlestar Galactica then, coz apparently so it DSs name? I might sound like a crazed fan if so.

LetThereBeRock · 21/01/2010 21:02

Horrid.

southeastastra · 21/01/2010 21:03

Crankytwanky - yes it's Lee Adama's flight tagname. He's a pilot.

Hmmn, wonder what your ds is called ...

MmeLindt · 21/01/2010 21:50

Not keen, and I don't think that it goes with your surname. My first name ends with the same letter as my surname starts and it does not flow so well.

LunarSea · 22/01/2010 09:20

I came across a girl called Appollonia recently - still unusual but might actually be a bit easier to get away with than the whole Greek God image for a boy.

BarbieLovesKen · 22/01/2010 09:30

Oh dear. Really awful.

FoxyRevenger · 22/01/2010 09:48

I read something in a baby name book which says if you like an 'unusual' name so much, why not forget it as a name for your child, and change it to your name instead?

Obviously it was being sarky to make a point, but it's maybe worth thinking about...i.e. if Apollo was MY name, how would I feel about it, would I have to continually explain it, spell it, be embarassed by it etc?

gagamama · 22/01/2010 09:51

Noo! Imagine his artwork hanging up at school at various ages...by Apollo, 11... by Apollo, 13.... Unless you are expecting a spacecraft, don't do it!

crumpette · 22/01/2010 12:12

I actually said to DP 'how about Apollo?' a while ago

it was a no

he said 'it's utterly absurd and cruel and the boy will be called Polly'

meggymegmegs · 22/01/2010 13:07

I'm sorry but I really really dislike it.
