Kayden IMO is in the same vein as Bailey, Kayleigh, Diesel, Rocky, Chantelle....

mummyofexcitedprincesses · 21/01/2010 22:18

Lol, not snobby, just practical.

CelticStarlight · 21/01/2010 23:22

I'm not keen on Kayden TBH, it seems that when Jayden got ultra popular after Britney Spears called her little boy Jayden, some bright sparks then decided Kayden would be just that little bit different but still 'trendy' - cue lots of Kaydens and then Braydens etc.

The in-laws of my best friend call their children whatever names are trendy at the moment and they have a Kayden, a Brayden, a Jayden and a Kayen.

I think a more timeless name is nice because it doesn't date as much but it's only my opinion and if you really like OP then go for it, it's your baby after all.

Lol, you spelled it wrong too Rindercella!

I believe Aiden can be spelt with either an 'a' or an 'e'

Don't take it so personally gaelic!

BarbieLovesKen · 22/01/2010 08:58

God, some of you can be right nasty bitches!!

I'm all for honesty and if you dont like a name fine. Say you dont like it. I understand OP asked for opinions - but to be making such negative remarks towards Tyler, which she has already called one child and did not ask for opinions on is down right ignorant and rude.

Mummyto3 - call this baby what you like many are just pissed off that its not the usual Emily, Alfie etc..

morningpaper · 22/01/2010 08:59

Agree with others

James, Isaac and Elijah are nice biblical names - why not go for something similar?

I have a friend with an Elijah and she also has a Micah

Joshua
Samuel
Daniel
Joel
Jonah
Amos
Malachi

Um, yeah, and your point is?

Mummyto3plusbump · 22/01/2010 10:14

lol

Its ok ladies Im not easily offended and I really do need honest opinions if my son (or daughter) is gonna be named Kayden. I like it as a spelling Caden.

We have a few biblical names in mind but just wanted an opinion on Kayden. I thought it was sweet (must be in the minority) lol.

Ideally we wanted Biblical names for all our children. but Tyler was named because of other personal reasons. I am thinking of names that would fit with Tylers as I dont want him to be the only child with a non biblical name but obviously dont want it to be too far out from J and Isaac.

thanx for your opinions

MadameCastafiore · 22/01/2010 10:16

All a bit chavvy IMO other than Isaac

MrsBadger · 22/01/2010 10:18

oh do NOT use it for a girl, under any circumstances.

If you want the same feel, something like Kayla (though again not to my taste) is better, or Caitlin, or Keira.

Mummyto3plusbump · 22/01/2010 10:24

i dont get this 'chavvy' thing. I am NOT a chav - far from it. and how can James be chavvy. I suppose again, it all comes down to personal opinions.

I dont think I would call my little girl Kayden - esp if its the name of a porn star, lmao.

For a girl we had, Erin, Freya and Darcey. Although all 3 are now becoming very popular so Im leaning more towards Rebekah.

MrsBadger · 22/01/2010 10:28

phew - your girls' names are much better

I was just worried when you posted 'I really do need honest opinions if my son (or daughter) is gonna be named Kayden.' and thought 'noooo!'

Mummyto3plusbump · 22/01/2010 10:30

Lol. No I meant I dont find out till next Weds. lol.

thanx hun x

MadameCastafiore · 22/01/2010 10:33

You may not be a chav but if you rocked up and said these are my kids Jay, Tyler and Kayden my Chavdar would be beeping 10 to the dozen!

Mummyto3plusbump · 22/01/2010 10:39

thats awful to put people into 'types' does that mean anything else is either 'posh' or 'boring'

OP posts:
Skegness · 22/01/2010 10:43

My friend has a Caiden shortened to Cady. He is very cute. The name has grown on me since his arrival into the world, as names tend to do when they are attached to fabsters, I find.

AuntieMaggie · 22/01/2010 11:48

I prefer the C spelling for Kayden and Cady sounds sweet.

KERALA1 · 22/01/2010 13:22

But human beings do put people into types Mummyto3. They just do. I think you are being abit naieve. Are you saying you have never made any assumptions based on peoples choices of names/car/clothes? If so you must be a pretty extraordinary person!

Mummyto3plusbump · 22/01/2010 13:28

I try not to judge a book by its cover and certainly dont judge people by their name! Everyones nature is different I suppose. I've been through enough in my life to not be nieve and also to realise that you cant judge everyone by the same standards.

OP posts:
BarbieLovesKen · 22/01/2010 16:28

How on earth is the name James "chavvy"???

Seriously?

AuntieMaggie · 22/01/2010 16:54

ditto mumto3plusbump

in a society where diversity is such a hot topic at the moment i am quite shocked at some of the assumptions made about a name

titchy · 22/01/2010 17:02

Unfortunately it's a reality - people do judge. And when those people are teachers, friends' parents, employers etc. it's sensible to be aware of how others will perceive your child's name, and hence your child.

As an extreme example I somehow imagine two sets parents having identical difficulties in their lives. The ones called Lawrence and Cordelia would I suspect receive very different treatment from the ones called Kayden and Chardonnay.

Not saying it's right - everyone should look deeper, but hey that's life.

titchy · 22/01/2010 17:03

And James isn't at all chavvy btw, Jay might be thought of that way though (although I actually quite like Jay )

drloves8 · 22/01/2010 17:09

i dont like kayden or even cayden.I wouldnt say it was chavy ect ,just that its not as nice sounding as other names. (depends on accent though)
But i love your other kids names . what other names have you got for possibilities?
do they go nice with the older kids name and your surname?
The girls names youve chosen are really pretty , what about the boys versions of them?
Erin - Eric?
freya- fraser?freddie?
darcey - darel?darren?
