Really awful, made up, tacky american sitcom type name.

pagwatch · 21/01/2010 21:34

I am starting to feel sorry for poor Kayden with his tanned American sitcom name and his already pissed off teachers....

I like it and yes it fits.

For those of you that think its made up - it's not!

pooexplosions · 21/01/2010 21:40

What does it mean then, what is its origin?

janeite · 21/01/2010 21:42

Tyler and Kayden sound very different to James and Isaac. I don't like it at all, sorry.

BigusBumus · 21/01/2010 21:45

It's vile. Sorry. Proper chavtastic.

AuntieMaggie · 21/01/2010 21:46

Arabic/hebrew origins like Jayden.

A lot of people think my name is made up too - it's not it's also of hebrew origin.

Some people are very quick to deem some names "chavvy" or made up because they are unusual.

Rindercella · 21/01/2010 21:47

Afraid I really don't like it. Reminds me of my last job and I used to have to go on daily/weekly/monthly 'cadence' calls (awful Americanism).

Not keen on the 'ayden' names either.

KERALA1 · 21/01/2010 21:47

I am afraid I don't like it at all. It does go with Tyler though. Like James and really like Isaac.

ShowOfHands · 21/01/2010 21:49

Have googled to find the origin and the 2nd google result is an American porn star, Kayden Kross. Here SHE is. It's from the Latin for Big Of Tit And Loose Of Morals.

I don't like to say mean things to pregnant women as a rule, but it's a bloody awful name.

gaelicsheep · 21/01/2010 21:51

It's like about three different names jumbled together. Please don't use it.

Rindercella, there's nowt wrong with "ayden" type names without another letter and spelled correctly. The trouble is that with the proliferation of the made-up variety, everyone keeps asking me how to spell my son's name. There is only one way, and it doesn't involve a "y" or an "e"!

BigusBumus · 21/01/2010 21:53

"Some people are very quick to deem some names "chavvy" or made up because they are unusual."

No, not because they are unual but just because they are only used in abundance by one type of people...

BigusBumus · 21/01/2010 21:54

Gosh, terrible spelling and English there. Too many wines....

AuntieMaggie · 21/01/2010 21:54

one type of people? nice.

Rindercella · 21/01/2010 21:55

Sorry, just not that keen on any 'ayden' names; don't even like Aiden (must be the sound I don't like) - just a personal thing of mine and I mean nothing against any -aydens out there

BigusBumus · 21/01/2010 21:55

I did get my apology in quite quickly though!

usualsuspect · 21/01/2010 21:56

Its no worse then the type of people that think Ethel is an ok name for a baby

gaelicsheep · 21/01/2010 21:58

Lol, you spelled it wrong too Rindercella! There's no "e", it's an "a"! A good early medieval saint's name. And I'm really not liking any association at all with the "ayden" group!!

AuntieMaggie · 21/01/2010 21:59

my parents are obviously in that group....

LadyThompson · 21/01/2010 22:02

I don't really like Kayden, sorry.

However, the main character in The Boy of Delights is called Kay (he's a boy): Kay Harker. Rather nice.

I don't think it's short for Kayden, somehow.

Heated · 21/01/2010 22:03

Kayden, Brayden, Cayden, Jayden... are going to be the Wayne & Kevin equivalent of the 80s.

James and Isaac are gorgeous and think you should choose something in keeping with those.

gaelicsheep · 21/01/2010 22:05

From one of the wiki-type sites:

"[Aidan's] popularity is also reflected in the occurrence of similar-sounding names such as Braden, Caden, Hayden, and Jaden."

BLEURGH! If I'd even thought of that association I'd have chosen another name!

mummyofexcitedprincesses · 21/01/2010 22:08

It's your baby, choose the name you love.

This is a really bad place to ask, no-one ever gets a totally positive response but this is bad even for mumsnet name-snobbery standards.

Personally, I think a name is a name, and they were all made up once, so as long as you like it, go for it. I do draw the line at names like Fifi-Trixiebelle or Moon Unit though, they wouldn't be very easy to learn to write.

pooexplosions · 21/01/2010 22:13

isn;t that rather snobby towards people who like fifi-trixibelle?
