Out of your choices I would go for -

Mia

Danny (Daniel) or Freddie (love them both)

CinderellaRach · 24/01/2010 14:40

Thanks for opinions. My favourite is Giselle for a girl still..Cannot decide on boys names at all I don't particularly love anything so far.I love Danny but I don't like Daniel but it seems wrong to Christen your child a nickname...x

Mia (would that be pronounced mee-a or my-a?)

It is a lovely name and at our very small school of only 47 children we have three Mee-a's and one My-a. (aged between 3 and 11)

I love Arielle as opposed to Giselle myself and i absolutley adore Asher, not heard that for a long long while.

Freddy is very popular at the moment as is Luca or Lucas (and i love luca or lucas too)

CinderellaRach · 25/01/2010 09:39

Hi wolfblass-I'd pronounce it Mee-a.Glad you told me it's popular at the school,it only seems nice when unique!
DH cannot stand any of the girls names. He thinks they sound like I'm trying too hard and over the top!He wants Liberty for a girl which I don't know if I like or not...
Yes thanks I love Asher too but always worry about what people think.Don't want people to think that I'm trying too hard. It's really difficult!...

I like Giselle and Arielle - they are beautiful and timeless as not so widespread.

Mia, I think, will be linked to the early noughties, I certainly know a lot of 5-10 year old Mias. I would avoid such 'trendy' names personally.

I love Asher from your boys' list. Danny, Freddie and Luke are very boring/common in comparison. But that's just my personal opinion, but you did ask .

ChippingIn · 25/01/2010 11:42

LOL @ your DH who thinks you are 'trying too hard' but likes Liberty?!

Of the ones you've listed I prefer Mia & Freddie/

CinderellaRach · 25/01/2010 15:00

Thanks mumoftoomany I still love Giselle but DH says it's pretentious!

Hehe ChippingIn!I know that's exactly what I thought when he said that!!

Mia and Freddie.

butadream · 25/01/2010 15:07

I like Mia and Luke. Giselle is nice but (a) too close to Ellis in sound esp if nn Elle and (b) school nn could possibly be "Jiz" - noooo!

Skegness · 25/01/2010 15:14

Ellis and Mia sound very nice together. From your boys list I like Luke and Danny. However, though I'm definitely not a "children must never be given a nickname as a first name" type, I love the name Daniel and really like Dan so would use Daniel and see which nickname emerged.

liliputlady · 25/01/2010 16:39

I like Mia and Luke.

birdofthenorth · 25/01/2010 16:42

Mia and Asher

CinderellaRach · 26/01/2010 09:30

Yes skegness I totally agree that you shouldn't give a nickname as a first name!
Thanks to everyone for the helpful opinions x

CinderellaRach,

Some people have said that when you see your baby you will just know, so I think its good that you have a few options and then when the baby arrives you've got a choice.

I have 3 names for a boy and girl, there are favourites but we're just going to wait and see.

Hope this helps

CinderellaRach · 27/01/2010 20:38

Thanks CLB1 plus it helps that this time next week I'll know the gender!!Good luck with yours-I guess you're having a surprise?
