Middle names for Raphael

[Gangle]

Think we will call DS2 Raphael. Trying to decide on a middle name and had thought of either Raphael Luca or Raphael Joshua. DH doesn't like either, prefers Raphael James or Raphael Jacob. Any thoughts?

I know a Raphael with Rocco and Luca but their dad is Italian

DH is half French, grew up there. I love the name Luca and would have it as a first name but DH hates it.

i don't know why, but i really don't like Raphael Jacob...
like both the names, it just doesn't "go"

I like Luca, Joshua or James though

Not so keen on Jacob on its own, but i think it goes really well with Raphael.

Raphael is a fabulous name, I loved it for ds3 and ds4 but noone else did....

We must be on the same wavelength as I have a Joshua and ds4, 3 weeks old, is Luca James. Really like Jacob too but ds1&2 are J names as is dp.

Not sure that Raphael Luca really works, think that displayuntilbestbefore's suggestion of Luke sounds better (incidentally its ds1' middle name!)

I am currently having a slight wobble over ds4 name, he is being registered tomorrow and just want to make sure we have got it completely right. I think I love it but am madly postnatal atm!

Actually thinking more about it I do really like Raphael Luca - reckon you should go with that!

Think of the options Raphael James is best.

I think that because Raphael has so many syllables, it sounds better with a shorter second name - Raphael Luke is therefore my favourite....

thanks all. I think Raphael James sounds a bit odd as James is quite conventional and Raphael more unusual. For some reason, I think is also goes better with names ending with vowells! I love Luca but not Luke for some reason.

I like the middle name James as it's a nice contrast to the first name as it's a traditional name in the UK whereas Raphael is more French/Italian/Spanish in origin.

We have a Rafael Joseph here (DS2, aged 5) and he LOVES his name as do we ....

I agree that Raphael James sounds odd - they're such different names, and don't run well together (I also don't get all the fuss over James, anyway ).

It's sort of like calling someone Luciano Kevin.

I really like Raphael Luca (much better than Luke!).
