Too much like Romeo and Juliet?

Ds is a Robert and I'd love to call dd due in May Juliet, hubby isn't so keen but only because he thinks it sounds too much like Romeo and Juliet.

What are your thoughts?

Just misread this and thought your chosen name was "May Juliet", which I think is gorgeous. As it is I have to agree with your DH re. Romeo and Juliet. Unfortunate as it's a pretty name.

Yeah, sounds like a modern version of Romeo and Juliet... the names just feel too different.
Robert and Julie would sound better.

Oh but to hell with it. If you like it, why not?

I'm afraid I agree with your DH, IMHO it would be a mistake to use them together. Robert and Julia would work.

MrsBadger · 18/01/2010 16:02

Julia is nicer imo

belgo · 18/01/2010 16:03

Sounds awful together. Robert and Julia much better.

diddl · 18/01/2010 17:11

Julia is better imo.

I love Juliet. Really dislike julia so don't do that.

Robbert and Juliet are lovely names. it sounds a bit like romeo and juliet, but that's not a terrible thing.

But if your dh won't do it, in the same style as juliet, i like
Marianne
Annabel
Beatrice
Violet

I'd just do it. it's better than milly and holly or sammy and sally and some of the other combos i've heard.

notanumber · 18/01/2010 17:17

Agree with above - Julia is better.

MaggieNilAonSneachta · 18/01/2010 17:17

oh, Robert is her father not her sibling.

oh definitely go with Juliet!!!!

0percypig0 · 18/01/2010 20:10

I definatly wouldn't use Julia, I don't think it's pretty at all.

I think I need to sound it out with a few more people.

Ds is known as Bob or Bert to others, although always called Robert by me and hubby.

If I said Juliet and Robert, it doesn't seem as bad as Robert and Juliet (or maybe its just wishful thinking!)

I do think it sounds like it's going to be Romeo and Juliet,a bit.

But then again I can never really understand why people worry that their childrens names 'go' together either. They're both good names in their own right. I think the connection might be mentioned at first but not often once everyone's used to it.

ruhavingalarf · 18/01/2010 20:24

try Juliette

and call him Bob

yama · 18/01/2010 20:49

To my mind Robert is nothing like Romeo. Even the 'ro' sound is different.

Juliet is a beautiful name. Please use it.
