I can't decide if Marilyn is foul or pleasingly 1950s retro.

I think it sounds pretty but are the associations with a sexy pin-up too icky for a little girl to be able to carry off?

i think its pretty but people will think Marilyn Manson....

BooHooo · 16/01/2010 20:20

I really like it

notanumber · 16/01/2010 20:24

Will people really think Marilyn Manson?

Really? Even if she and I are Bodened up to our eyeballs and listening to Norah Jones on the Ipod?

Hadn't even thought of that.

Pleasingly retro, in a way. Goes with Sylvia, Cynthia and Cecily imo.

However, Marilyn Monroe was quite tragic as well as being the pin-up. And obviously she inspired Marilyn Manson for some reason. So there's baggage. It's a lot to saddle a child with.

It's a sweet name, but like you, I can't decide if it's Monroe or blue-rinse old granny. Wouldn't think of Manson.

BooHooo · 16/01/2010 20:48

Manson wouldn't cross my mind tbh

I love it. It's my friend's name - she's in her 30s

LetThereBeRock · 16/01/2010 21:37

The first thing I think of is Marilyn Manson not Marilyn Monroe.

I don't think it's a particuarly nice name.

MamaLazarou · 16/01/2010 21:56

The nicest name in the world, IMO.

I wish I hadn't wasted it on a cat (RIP dear little furry Marilyn). Otherwise it would be top of my list.
