I can't decide if Marilyn is foul or pleasingly 1950s retro.

I think it sounds pretty but are the associations with a sexy pin-up too icky for a little girl to be able to carry off?

Pleasingly retro, in a way. Goes with Sylvia, Cynthia and Cecily imo.

However, Marilyn Monroe was quite tragic as well as being the pin-up. And obviously she inspired Marilyn Manson for some reason. So there's baggage. It's a lot to saddle a child with.

It's a sweet name, but like you, I can't decide if it's Monroe or blue-rinse old granny. Wouldn't think of Manson.

The first thing I think of is Marilyn Manson not Marilyn Monroe.

I don't think it's a particuarly nice name.

The nicest name in the world, IMO.

I wish I hadn't wasted it on a cat (RIP dear little furry Marilyn). Otherwise it would be top of my list.
