With Rose as middle name to go with 2 syllable surname beginning with 'S'.

Verity is lovely and is spelled as it is said. Bryony will have a lifetime of mispellings.

SE13Mummy · 16/01/2010 20:21

Another vote for Verity. Have you chosen Rose because it holds some significance for you? I only ask because every second girl seems to have Rose as a middle name; a bit like the late 1970s when everyone I know had Louise, Elizabeth or Claire as a middle name!

notanumber · 16/01/2010 20:22

I like them both but prefer Verity.

Have to add though that Verity does make me think of a horsey type with a sensible bob and big plans for the PTA summer fête.

ShinyAndNew · 16/01/2010 20:23

Bryony. But I might be biased.

PatTheHammer · 16/01/2010 20:23

Both nice but I loved Verity and was my chosen name for DC2 until he turned out to be a DS. I liked the fact that you couldn't really shorten it.

persephonesnape · 16/01/2010 20:37

Verity Rose is going to be very geekishly doctor who.

(which is why it is astoundingly wonderful!)

GirlWiththeMouseyHair · 16/01/2010 20:59

Def Bryony, it's lovely (also thought of Briar Rose)

Verity is an old lady who lives a Miss Haversham life and will inevitably be eaten by her cats IMHO

VerityBrulee · 16/01/2010 21:09

Verity

BatmanSmells · 16/01/2010 22:00

Verity

ByTheSea · 16/01/2010 22:08

I like Verity, but LOVE Bryony. If I had another DD, which I won't, I'd name her Bryony.

MoodyMartha · 16/01/2010 23:16

Verity - very pretty

jellybeans · 16/01/2010 23:17

Bryony is nice.

Bumbleconfusus · 17/01/2010 12:13

Bryony...

mumtoted · 17/01/2010 12:21

Like Bryony.
Hate Verity.

littlemisslozza · 17/01/2010 12:24

Verity. Don't like Bryony - too much like Brian.

cece · 17/01/2010 12:38

Verity was top of my list for DC3. Love it.

Bryony is not very nice imo. Too much like Brian and therefore would not go on my list!

Two very different names with different judginess attached to them...!

LadyOfTheFlowers · 17/01/2010 18:01

So it's 24-18 to Verity?

Unless I counted wrong but Verity deffo seems to be in the lead.

DH keeps saying with a on his face if we name her Bryony he will call her 'Bryn' and my older little brother says all he hears is 'Briney' like briney sea/tuna.

Verity.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 25/01/2010 12:12

I change my mind from day to day but I am back to Verity with Rose as middle name unless anyone can think of anything better for middle name? Just think it needs to be short as Verity has 3 syllables and surname has 2?

We are not poncey/posh at all - think I can still use Verity?
Don't want her to be 'overnamed' as such!?

Ziggurat · 25/01/2010 13:10

No, no - not Verity. It's definitely too WI.

Also reminds me of Claire Verity, the fearsome woman from 'Raising Baby' that had the tiny babes banished to the bottom of the garden for half the day. I know it was her surname, but she was Verity personified - a mono-boob, severe grey bob and very thin lips.

Bryony is lovely.

beccagrace2 · 25/01/2010 14:26

i really like verity, but as someone has mentioned rose is a very popular middle name right now, and makes most names sound like a long boat, 'the verity rose'? i love kate as a mn or alice both sound nice with verity to me.

OrmRenewed · 25/01/2010 14:28

I like both. Perhaps Bryony wins by half a head.

jemart · 25/01/2010 14:36

Between those two names I'd choose Verity, but not so keen on either one to be honest.
Makes me think (I actually wanted a boy named)Brian and Ferret

Alishanty · 25/01/2010 20:41

Love both these names equally. Could never have used either as dp not keen. Would probably go for Bryony/Briony if i had to pick as the 2 people i have met with the name were very pretty and they could carry it off.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 25/01/2010 22:22

what else do you like jemart?
