DP and I can't agree on any names and are running out of ideas... please help! We've got a DD named Phoebe and don't know what we're having this time. Boys names are more of a problem than girls. The names we (individually) like are:

Claudia
Hermione
Beatrice (We both like this one but DD's nn is bea so wouldn't use it)

Albert
Eddie
Rudy
Rufus
Xavier

Any suggestions gratefully received

Some girls names:

Clara
Lucia
Aurelia
Octavia
Eliza
Arabella
Cassia
Portia
Amelia
Freya
Eleanor
L ydia
Sylvia / Sylvie

Agree Beatrice not a great idea if you already have a 'Bea'. Unless you used Betty or Betsy as a nickname from the start?

Hermione is sweet. Harriet? Or another Greek name - Eleni, Alexia, Ariana?

Unlurked · 14/01/2010 15:29

Thanks Mrs Mattie, I'm adding Portia, Lydia, Sylvie and Eleni to my list and I think DP might actually like Lydia and Sylvie!

Hermione is my absolute favourite, there are so many names that I like but I keep coming back to Hermione. DP is having none of it, I'm still thinking of ways to change his mind!

Sounds like you've got a pretty good girl list - how about these boys' names:

Felix
Arlo
Marcus
Robin
Hector

mumoftoomany · 15/01/2010 11:37

I like your suggestions. How about

Quentin?
Victor?

laughterlines · 15/01/2010 11:43

I love the suggestion of Sylvie best from those listed

Unlurked · 15/01/2010 15:08

Thanks for all the suggestions I really like Arlo, that's going straight on the list!

Quentin is an excellent name but doesn't work very well with our surname unfortunately. I would shorten Victor to Vicky, I just know I would.

Any more?

I really like Claudia, as well, but not Hermione or Beatirice (too "posh" - unless you are posh)

JamesandHisFlamingSword · 16/01/2010 02:16

I love Hermione - elegant, classic and feminine!

Don't like the meaning of Claudia at all, so that would put me off.

For boys I love Rufus from your list.

AlpenCrazy · 16/01/2010 08:06

i had a friend called Quentin growing up and he was bullied mercilessly as a child cos of his name but hey that was aeons ago

mathanxiety · 16/01/2010 20:17

OMG, Sorry sorry, wrong thread

annasmami · 16/01/2010 21:42

I have a 6 year old Quentin. We love his name and get really favourable comments about it (well, to our face anyway ).

Most children associate the name with the illustrator/author Quentin Blake, or older children possibly with Quentin Tarantino - are these bad associations or is there something else that I'm missing?

AlpenCrazy · 16/01/2010 22:01

not at all no offence meant.
i think maybe it was the era of Quentin Crisp well before the others were known.

What about Phoebe and Imogen
or Phoebe and Isaac
