Is Finn OK as a full name?

Or does he need something longer? It's really playing on my mind!

The other twin will be George so will only have one syllable too. I think he would definitely need a longer name if the other twin was Alexander for example..

Throw me your favourite Finn names please so DH and I go through them.

Thanks

Is Fintan too way out to go with George?

I love Finn just on its own. I'm not really a fan of Finley and think it sounds great as it is. I also love George! Great choices!

Finlo

MarthaFarquhar · 13/01/2010 15:09

Finn is a proper name in its own right.

randomimposter · 13/01/2010 15:11

Am in the same dilemma
Not wild on Finley/Finlay...
Like Finnian. Not sure about Finnegan.

LOVE George btw also. Hadn't thought that George and Finn "went" but maybe they do

itstwins · 13/01/2010 16:07

See I think that Finn is ok on its own too. I was just responding to some comments made on here an another board.

I do really like Finlay but I know of one on my road and we prefer just Finn. I don't like Finley. Finnian is nice but not Michael Finnegan.

Never heard of Finlo before, it could be a grower!

Nothing wrong with Finn on its own at all.

My dgs is Finn James.I love the name Finn and William is a grand middle name.

pooexplosions · 13/01/2010 20:35

I wanted just Finn for DS3, but DH wanted him to have a "proper" name, and our other 2 have 2 syllable names, so we eventually settled on Finian Isaac, but he is known to most as Finn (to his brothers he is known as Foof )

itstwins · 13/01/2010 23:39

Thanks pooexplosions (love the name). Do you wished you'd gone for just Finn?

Finn is enough (and personally think is much nicer than the convoluted versions!!

hana · 13/01/2010 23:56

i lurve finn, would have been our boys name. but had girls

pooexplosions · 14/01/2010 00:01

I did, but now I don't, a) because he seems to suit Finian too, b) because there are quite a few Finns about (it seems to be big this year, near me anyway). I like that he can choose later for himself what he likes, and I have never met another Finian.

HappyBump · 14/01/2010 04:01

Ha- I've just seen your thread! Thanks for your comments on my names George and Finn are both great names.

I hadn't thought of it before but I really like the suggestion of Phineas. If you want the abbreviation to Finn though then I would think that a Finian, Finley, Findlay, Finlay or Finbar.

Have you considered Flynn?

SomeWhereOverTheRainbow4 · 14/01/2010 17:59

I think Finn is a Gorgeous name! I love them both to be honest, but I definately don't think it's too short!
