Does anyone read the Times birth announcements?

There are some corking names there. Walter appeared yesterday- haven't seen that for a while.
Also the obituaries have some lovely old names- most people seem to be about 93 when they die.
(I obviously have far too much time on my hands)

Oops is okay I've found it

PurpleEglu · 16/01/2010 16:19

Ooh Caspian and Kali stand out to me today

Awassailinglookingforanswers · 16/01/2010 16:22

oh I know a Caspian - he's a lovely little boy and his parents (although rather well-to-do - she's done lots of voice over for some rather "big name" brands, and quite a bit of radio work, and he's a TV director) are the most down to earth people too

Looking back throug some older ones I found a Montague which I quite like. And a Harryo (female for Harry) Never come across that before.

What about this one from the Times last week...

Alfred Huckleberry Jack Beowulf Middlemiss. Brilliant!

PollyPoo · 16/01/2010 19:47

I have to say I'd prefer Alfred H J B to most all of the bonny babies ones.

Surely Chole is a typo, though...?

CHOLE?

shockers · 17/01/2010 09:38

I think Hony Boo might have been Honey Boo as well... not half as much fun.

Shock
campion · 18/01/2010 15:30

Can't wait to teach that lot

JumpJockey · 18/01/2010 15:36

The best birth announcement I ever read in the Times was for a girl that said "Millicent A-Go-Go Frenegonde. Welcome little one"

I still think it was the person who does the column doing it for a dare.

sowhatis · 18/01/2010 15:49

this thread is hilarious!!! loving some of those names!

pickupthismess · 18/01/2010 16:07

My kids were in The Times (but only because we all read it). They have 'normal' names though unlike their cousin Ludo.

crumpet · 18/01/2010 16:17

O.M.G. at the bonny babies

crumpet · 18/01/2010 16:17

Lakelan is fantastic!

pickupthismess · 18/01/2010 16:20

Sure it wasn't Lakeland?

SnotBaby · 18/01/2010 16:41

The only vaguely classic name in the "bonny babies" list is Leland, and the only popular use of Leland that I can think of is Laura Palmer's dad in Twin Peaks. :/
