Is Pippy nice for a girl?

As in Pippi Longstocking? Nice nickname maybe? How about Phillipa for best?

Pippy on its own is a bit Malory Towers IMO

Could be shortened version of Phillipa or could choose Pippa instead?

Not keen. Sorry. Maybe it's a grower but I can't shake off the Longstocking girl.

Why do you want to give a child a girly girly nickname?

i can only think 'longstocking' or 'philip pirrip' neither of which are particularly desirable for a growing gel.

Pippy is ok but it sounds like a nn. I prefer Pippa, Phillipa or Phyllida.

Try to think beyond your dd being a child (sorry I don't mean that to be patronising) but imagine her as a teenager/ doctor/ Prime Minister/ old lady.
Pippy Lou is fine as a nickname but give her a proper name to use outside of the home!!

Makes me think of children's TV characters (Loubey Lou is probably what comes to mind I guess). Or apple pips. Really not good at all other than as a mum to baby nickname for a toddler.

I called my daughter 'Epiphany', but it got shortened to 'Pip' by friends, teachers, etc. Now she is 18, she has gone back to the full version. There's nothing wrong with an unusual name - she can shorten it if she doesn't like it. I thought about calling her 'Dotty' before she was born!
