Serenity?

I think it's pretty. It's my favorite word as well . The only issue is, while I think of it as being a virtue name like Faith, Constance, etc, it comes off more as one of those names like Destiny or something, doesn't it? Pity.

BTW I wouldn't use this for a first name, I'm trying to convince DH it'd be a lovely middle name for our someday daughter.

Eleanora is a fantastic name. Was top of our list. After realizing no one in England to agree to the same spelling we revised our choice. Leonora is beautiful and has the same sound.
Serena was also one of our top names. It has a beautiful sound and same meaning as Serenity.

I think Eleanora Josephine Brick works well, but Eleanora Serenity Brick is not so good.

I think there's too much of a contrast between the floatiness of Serenity with the hardness of brick.

Serenissima? a la Venezia? (self-parps)

serinBrightside · 11/01/2010 23:14

Might I suggest....ahem....Serin as an alternative?

CheerfulYank · 12/01/2010 01:38

You may indeed. I think we'll go w/ Eleanora Josephine (the Josephine is in honor of my mom Jody) no matter how much I like Serenity. The thought of the incontinence pants just tipped the scales for me, math! Also that Roald Dahl would love it...I love him so yes, vvv good thing indeed.

Perhaps will name a cat Serenity at some point...

There was a "Serene" at my secondary school. Everyone loved her name and remarked on how pretty it was and it suited her especially well. I do like Serenity though. I doubt kids are going to know names of incontinence pads so teasing is unlikely.
Josephine is equally good.

We had a Brownie called Serenity - she was anything but Serene! Nice enough girl, but you were shattered by the time an hour and a half with her was done. How her teachers coped is beyond me!

PixiNanny · 13/01/2010 00:08

I love Serenity! But it's the English name for Tsukino Usagi, Sailor Moon

brimfull · 13/01/2010 00:17

Serendipity

parp

Oddly enough, saying "Number on mumsnet says we have to get shagging b/c she likes the girl name we've chosen," to your DH will not be considered seductive.
