How long before name 'sticks'

DS is 4 months but for some reason I can't get used to his name.

With DD, I remember it taking a couple of weeks before the name really stuck and I couldn't imagine her with another, but 4 months??

I don't dislike the name (it's Noah), I haven't got another name I really want instead (although there is one I still try out occasionally), but somehow I just can't get my head round Noah and often find myself referring to DS as 'him', 'he', etc just to avoid using it.

Has this happened to anyone else, and when did you finally get used to it?

I've found this too. Has taken longer than with DS1. It hasn't helped that it wasn't that well received in the first place, with both the great-grannies avoiding saying it, and my mum, dad and sister(!) all having called him by the wrong name (it's Magnus and they've all managed to call him Marcus at one time or another, I wouldn't mind so much if I didn't really dislike that name!)

hate to say it, but we were going to call this one due in feb, Noah, from day one...but now with 4 weeks left to go, neither of us really like the name anymore, not because there is anything wrong with it, but it just doesnt make us go wow and we figured that if 9 months of pregnancy hasnt made the name stick, it was probably best to change it to something else.

I know we had doubts about our first sons name, Mason, because of the implications up here in scotland...but the minute he was born, it stuck and has always stuck.

I think if you really really are not feeling the name...it may be worthwhile changing it now, before he gets much older.

For what its worth, I still think noah is a lovely name, I just have gone off it myself, I dont mean to cause offense!

No problem, no offense taken! I still like it, just not 'feeling' it somehow. If I had something I loved I'd seriously consider changing it but I haven't so I'm just in this no man's land waiting for it to suddenly suit him.

Honestly, I find boys names so much harder! Maybe I should just call him Sofia and be done with it! ;-)
