Jude for a boy?

sar18 · 10/01/2010 21:31

I am 22 weeks pregnant and having a boy, was wondering what people thought of Jude as a boy's name?

He may be called Jude Xavier (Xavier as we got engaged in St Francis Xavier church in Goa).

Or does anyone have any other good first names that may go with Xavier as this part of the name is a definite!

Thank you for your ideas!

bit obscure?

VinegarTits · 10/01/2010 22:02

lovely

FlamingoBingo · 10/01/2010 22:02

Yes, definitely. We had four girls though. Jude was one of our top three for a boy though - won't get to use it now!

FlamingoBingo · 10/01/2010 22:03

hahahaha harried

AngryPixie · 10/01/2010 22:04

Love it! Would have used it although too similar to my name would have been a bit Nigel/Nigella

SE13Mummy · 10/01/2010 22:04

DD2 would have been Jude if she'd been a boy. I think it's a fantastic name although I've heard of quite a few since DD2 was born in May (including a colleague).

LadyCressida · 10/01/2010 22:18

I always LOVED the name Jude but I've had to give the idea up because it doesn't go with my surname

Goes well with Xavier too!

Iwantscallops · 10/01/2010 22:50

Fantastic name! I have a Jude aged 6 months. He is the only male Jude I know. The other Judes seem to be middle aged women!

Some people think 'he' is a 'she' and he has also been called Judas - but I don't care!

Love the middle name too.

Love Jude

My best mate has just become a granny and her new grandson is a Jude

Just reminds me of Celebrity Dave, and of Hardy's tragic hero, sorry.

Love those names together.

ShowOfHands · 11/01/2010 12:02

It's a great name but just getting popular. It's going to date as very 2010ish I think. Just slipped into the Bounty top 100 boys name for example and I know of 4 born in the last few months in our town, 3 boys and one girl.

blushingm · 11/01/2010 13:25

my brother is jude - he's 29 and has never met another one.......................though at school it was noticed that it rhymed with poohed

jude poohed his pants

i think it's lovely though

itstwins · 11/01/2010 13:55

I know of quite a few baby Judes so I agree that's it's not so unusual any more. I do like it but I think of Mr Law and knew too many female Judes growing up.

newindieyear · 11/01/2010 14:06

Love it, bizarrely they both have sisters called Beth.

newindieyear · 11/01/2010 14:07

Love it, I know two, bizarrely they both have sisters called Beth.

Lymond · 11/01/2010 14:09

I know a gorgeous little Jude. Goes beautifully with Xavier.

Also like Xavier as a first name; know one nicknamed Xavvi.

LouMacca · 11/01/2010 14:49

Love Jude! Go for it.

sar18 · 11/01/2010 17:09

Thank you for all of your helpful opinions - definitely making me feel more confident about the name!

Think my husband will be happy as it is his favourite name - I just wasn't sure about it. I was just convinced we were having a girl until the scan, so had a name for a girl but not really thought about a boy name!
