I love it. Some friends have a DD called Greta and she is utterly gorgeous. She doesn't have a nickname as far as I know.

I have a Great Aunt Greta whose given name is Margaret, so I think from that point of view it's unlikely to be shortened any further.

If I really hunt about I can think of grotty greta as a possible playground name-call, but all names have something like that.

I think Greta's pretty.

I do think that you can torture yourself with the thought of what some 'orrible little urchin might do to your child's name.

I worried about calling my DD Ella because I thought it might be turned into Elephant! She has not been called Elephant once to my knowledge, but does get called Ella Bella!
