Our dillema is this.

DH, DS and I all have names beginning with J. We didn't intentionally give DS a J name, we didn't really think about it tbh.

So, I am due ds2 in 8 weeks (or sooner) and we still haven't decided if we will give him a J name or not.

There aren't really any J names that spring to mind instantly, but I haven't really looked very hard.

Or do we steer away from the J thing completely?

We are also looking for a Scottish name that isn't one of the really popular ones just now like Lewis or Cameron for example. Nothing against these names,I like them, but don't want him to be one of 6 in the class!!

But I also don't want it to be a rare name that nobody has heard of.

Our surname is two syllables, ending in an, so can't be anything like Gordon or Struan, ending in similar sound.

I'm not fussy or anything eh?

Fire some suggestions at me....

it was from AGES ago, the one where he started off going on about his name in huge pink letters/ the big slipper/ coats down the sleeves of the duvet and have another custard cream father?

no?

just me?

Bella32 · 09/01/2010 11:03

I remember the big slipper.

And the incontinence pants.

But not Alasdair

Link please - could do with a giggle

bargainhuntingbetty · 09/01/2010 11:09

What about Rory?? Dont know if it would go with your two J names. You could always have Kade (have also seen it spelt with a C). Some strange names here but they are scottish so some of them might work for you.

sweetkitty · 09/01/2010 12:51

I know it Dizzy Alasdair and Forbes was it now or Farquar (or is that Shrek?)

Pity you cannot use Murray I know a gorgeous 8 week old Murray I could steal him

dizzydixies · 09/01/2010 18:23

no you're right Kitty - AlisDair, tarquin, crawford, forbes etc - he was taking the p out of the second name brigade if I remember rightly

Bella32 - will have a look for it once the kids are down

kimlouiseb · 09/01/2010 18:46

Our DS is Fyfe - my husband's family are Scottish. Is it quite unusual though and does get lots of comments.

Other possibilities:
Lachlan (I prefer it pronounced locklan rather than lacklan)
Logan
Ewan
Fergus
Hamish
Ivar

Really like Angus.
