What do you think of Hansie?

I've always really liked the name Hansie.

Do you think it's ok for an English boy - no Scandinavian or Dutch links etc.

Also I'm not keen on nicknames as official names, would you put Johan or Johannes on the birth cert. even though I don't love either of them?

I bought some hand warming devices in Aldi last week - with a special gel in them and a tin thing that you snap and the whole thing warms up. They have the catchy name of 'Pocket Hand Warmers' - the manufacturers missed a great naming opportunity there!

Go for Johan - lovely name. Shortened to Joe or Hans.

What about Hannes (Hann-s)? I had a German friend called that growing up and always thought it was lovely. I think Hans is pretty old fashioned.

Hannes is really nice, thanks caen - I just found a link to hear how it's pronouced on this nordicnames website.

Sort of like Han-ez with a hard n sound.

Looks like it's the short form of Johannes.

I automatically thought of Pansy before even reading the thread.

Love Hannes/ Hugo/ Keir/ Ilya...
