I think this is prettier than Vivien.
Would love to hear opinions of others on the name.

i went to uni with a viviana and she was an italian stunner....such a glamourous grown up name with Vivi for when she is little and cute....

Pineapplechunks · 05/01/2010 13:32

Not keen.

lovechoc · 05/01/2010 13:47

trying too hard

paulaplumpbottom · 05/01/2010 13:50

She will spend her life haveing it mis pronounced and having to constantly spell it for people.

GrimmaTheNome · 05/01/2010 13:53

Vivienne looks prettier (like Anne-with an E of Green Gables )

daisyj · 05/01/2010 13:55

What about Vivianne? I have a beloved aunt of that name (French family), and I think it's lovely (and maybe a bit less try-hard). She's also Vivi (or Viv) most of the time, which I think is very pretty, too.

pointydig · 05/01/2010 14:06

No. Much prefer Vivien

thomasine · 05/01/2010 14:24

Not entirely sure why it's try-hard. That has been mentioned twice so far.
I don't find the Vivien attractive and Vivienne is too frilly for me. I don't like the name Anne, so Vivianne would be out of the question.

It just seems a bit unnecessary and frilly when Vivien/Vivienne is a lovely name on its own.

bellissima · 06/01/2010 08:18

A comment from the back row. I could imagine vile teenage boys having a bit of a word play on viviana in a way that they just wouldn't with vivien.

GibbonInARibbon · 06/01/2010 08:34

Sorry try hard popped into my head too.

piscesmoon · 06/01/2010 08:44

I thought Vivien was a boys name, I know one, and Vivienne the girl's version. I don't like made up names.

I like it a lot -- I tend to really like all things Italian.

lilolilmanchester · 06/01/2010 17:25

trying too hard came in to my head too...

ILoveGregoryHouse · 06/01/2010 17:26

Sounds like a brand of contraceptive pill. I like Vivien though.

CJCregg · 06/01/2010 17:29

I quite like it. Glam and fab. I used to know someone called Liliana and that was beautiful, too - shortened to Lili, but the long version worked really well.

GooseyLoosey · 06/01/2010 17:33

I would judge and not favourably either. Sorry.

mathanxiety · 06/01/2010 19:42

It's no different as far as the tth pov goes from a name like Juliana.
