Same here I really really like Isla but DH doesn't. It's lovely (unless your surname is Dogs or Sheppey or Wight..)

What does he prefer?

weegiemum · 01/01/2010 09:07

I love it. We almost used it (but went for naming after a family member instead)

kneedeepinthedirtylaundry · 01/01/2010 09:10

It's a beautiful name, and also the title of a beautiful album by the brilliant Portico Quartet.

he really likes amber which is nice but its quite popular round here. i like more unusual names. our son is logan

Much prefer isla to Amber fwiw. Wait until you're in labour it will be hard for him to deny you!

pinchmeimustbedreaming · 01/01/2010 09:19

I am pg with dc3 and if it is a boy it will have my dads name as middle name as it will have dh's dad's surname iyswim..

I can win everytime on that premise!

dizzycringles · 01/01/2010 10:20

Isla lovely but very popular here in Scotland if that bothers you at all?

my cousin's SIL is about to get married in Feb, her name is Isla and her fiance is Mr White - just a though

otherwise I know 2 and all three of them are lovely girls

Amber - not so much to my taste as I know a horse and a dog as well as one wee girl called this

My middle name is Islay, after the scottish island (famous for whisky). Any chance of tempting him with the alcohol connection!?

poinsettydawg · 01/01/2010 18:20

Isla's nice but you have to agree, don;t you

scottishmummy · 01/01/2010 18:30

really like that name

lou031205 · 01/01/2010 18:36

DD3 is an 8 month old 'Isla'

SmacOnTheLipsUnderTheMistletoe · 01/01/2010 21:31

I really like it

SmacOnTheLipsUnderTheMistletoe · 01/01/2010 21:32

I also like Ailsa

Ondine · 01/01/2010 23:48

I like it, it was at #41 last year so not even as popular as I thought.

I still don't think everyone knows it's not pronouced Iz-la so might have to correct a few times but v. nice name imo.

pinchmeimustbedreaming · 02/01/2010 07:19
