Roseana?

Pronounced Rozeena - not Rose-Anna. I think it was once common in Ireland. Could it be due for a revival? Have you ever met a Roseana?

I know Rosheena (young) and a Roseanne (old)but not a Roseana.

Hwr, I would automatically get the pn wrong and assume it was a variant of Roseanna, until you told me, and I suppose ppl will always misspell it, but then ppl misspell my dh's straightforward first name.

Would get the pn right with Rosina but guess you're less keen on the spelling?

Im irish and iv never heard of it im afraid... And i wrongly pronounced it roseanna n my head before reading your pn... I do know a rosealee and a rosealeen and think they r really beautiful names

Are you Irish? I have a very unusual Gaelic name which tends not to turn heads north of Aberdeen, but the English have never got it right and I've always had to spell it.

My Grandma's middle name is Rosina. No Irish connection. It was on our list if we'd had a dd.

Nobody will ever pronounce it properly.

Just checked the family records, it was Rosina not Roseana that I was thinking of

well in that case it is lovely and a great idea

I love it. But I'm biased as it's a family name.

Although in our family it's mis-spelt (historically!) so everyone who has it has an e in it and not an i.

I think of that awful rosanna davidson. i prefer Rosemary for some reason. even though i prefer anna to mary. the combination of rose+anna is just too saccharine.

Rosemary Anna could be Rosanna.

Now Rosina is very nice, much better than going around correcting everyone's pronunciation of Roseana. Have you considered Roisin?
