I have to say, I wouldn't use any of these. Not being a big fan of the whole Harry Potter thing, I wouldn't fancy naming my child after a character in a kid's book.

Ginny is Ginevra which I quite like.

Don't forget Fred, George, Percy, Charlie, Bill, James, Lily, Neville, Lee, Seamus, Lavender etc etc.

skay123 · 23/12/2009 11:29

Fred, (Weasley)
George,(Weasley)
James (arry's dad)
Lily (Harry's mum)
Tom (Riddle)

Harry,
Ron,
Hermione,
Ginny,

Would not dream of using
Draco
Lucius
Severus

I would either go for Luna (which I love) or Sirius!

Mistletoesnowman · 23/12/2009 11:31

What about Ludo? It's a name I love anyway.

LastOfTheMulledWine · 23/12/2009 11:32

Sirius is quite cool.

ScottishBoris · 23/12/2009 11:41

And Remus?

AmazingBouncingFerret · 23/12/2009 11:54

Bella
Blaise
Pansy
Hugo
Rose
Fleur
and my personal favourite if I ever have another DS, Voldemort.

ihatetinselbob · 23/12/2009 12:10

hedwig!

Spirael · 23/12/2009 13:21

There's also Cornelius (Fudge)!

I can't decide whether or not I like Cornelius as a name. The nn of Corny is bad... But maybe Cory could be used?

mrsvwoolf, I love that you think Cedric is a possibility but Ric is worse!!!

dizzycringles · 23/12/2009 14:18

I love Arianna (Dumbledore's sister I think) and wished desperately I hadn't stumbled across it the week after we'd registered DD3 - maybe just maybe if there is a DD4

BooHooMonkey · 23/12/2009 14:23

Always liked Fenrir

GreensElves · 23/12/2009 14:28

scabbers

woowa · 23/12/2009 15:26

Or Cornelia for a girl, which is lovely!

florence2511 · 23/12/2009 15:30

Barty (Crouch)

mumzy · 23/12/2009 17:59

I called one of my dc after a favourite character in a book but the name is fairly mainstream so no-one else knows. These are my personal favorite HP names
Fleur
Victore
Severus
Albus
Molly
Arthur
James
Lily
Bathilda
Bellatrix

JingleAllTheWay · 23/12/2009 18:03

DD called her hamster Hermione

dizzycringles · 23/12/2009 18:10

mumzy - my DD3 is after a character in a book too - I've no problem with it either

mummyloveslucy · 23/12/2009 18:16

I love Hermiony, Ginny and Luna. I also love Harry. I think you can get away with Harry, Ron and Ginny, Hermiony, dumbledore and Voldermort are definatly out.

katnkittens · 24/12/2009 03:02

My DS is 13, his Dad's surname is Potter. Harry was on our shortlist but I thank GOD in hindsight we didn't use it. His late Grandad was called Harold Potter

I have always loved Hermione but the HP books put me off it... shame.

jingle.. your hamster got off lightly. My rabbits are called Sharpay and Gabriella

claudialyman · 24/12/2009 20:54

if you really couldnt decide: He who must not be named

TipsyFairydifferentID · 24/12/2009 20:58

There's also Gregory and Vincent
