My DH & I are thinking of Eliabella Rose Taylor but have had a bad reaction from the only other person I've told so have started to wonder about it. I know it's rather unusual...

Not my cup of tea

BoysAreLikeDogs · 18/12/2009 15:29

how do you pronounce it please?

Is it Ell-ee-a bella

Eliah-bella (bit like hells bells doncha think?)

thighsmadeofcheddar · 18/12/2009 15:30

It's such a mouthful. Not my taste I'm afraid.

hollyroger · 18/12/2009 15:31

not keen. sounds like you're trying too hard to get away from eleanor and isabella, and failing to hit the mark.
sorry.

TubbyDuffs · 18/12/2009 15:31

Sounds a bit too made up for me, sorry. However, if you love it, its entirely up to you isn't it?

Although if you were sure of it, you wouldn't be asking for reassurance would you.

MrsJohnDeere · 18/12/2009 15:31

Don't like. Sorry.

Elizabeth much, much nicer, imo.

goingtohaveagoodnightssleep · 18/12/2009 15:33

Really don't like it. Eleanor , Isabella and Elizabeth are much nicer. But as you are going to have to hear/say it everyday go for something you like.

hollyroger · 18/12/2009 15:34

can't you go for Bella Rose, or Elizabeth Rose, or Eleanor Rose?

cece · 18/12/2009 15:39

How on earth do you say it?

Is it Ella - bella ? in which case no

or

is it

Eliah - bella ? In which case no!

pooexplosionsonthedustyroad · 18/12/2009 15:40

sounds like you have a speech impediment. She would have a lifetime of "Name? What? Say it again? How do you spell it? Are you sure?...."
Also sounds like you made up, minus 100 points for that.

mmelindt · 18/12/2009 15:42

Not keen, sorry. It sounds a bit made up.

DoesntChristmasDragOn · 18/12/2009 15:44

Shockingly bad. Did you make it up?

Thanks all, it's pronounced Eliah-bella and is an old Celtic name - Eliabella was King Arthur's cousin and married King Meliodas of Liones to cement the peace between the two of them.

I do like it but started to wonder whether it's more the hormones than anything! I was also worried about giving a name that might give a daugher more grief than joy.

BooHooo · 18/12/2009 15:47

oh dear no

Tillyscoutsmum · 18/12/2009 15:48

I appreciate trying to be original and the fact it isn't made up but I do think your last sentence sums it up tbh ....

auntycam · 18/12/2009 15:51

If you like it then why not call her Eliah and have Bella as a middle name.

MaggieAnFiaRua · 18/12/2009 15:53

Elizabeth or Annabel would be more my cup of tea.

eliabella sounds silly.

MaggieAnFiaRua · 18/12/2009 15:54

Annabella i mean

hollyroger · 18/12/2009 15:55

ponyness, I had some SHOCKING names in my head due to hormones....

At one point I remember arguing that if girls could be called Willow, then why could I not call a boy Oak? And I meant it...for a whole week

Eliah is quite pretty?

PfftTheMagicDragon · 18/12/2009 15:56

Looking at it written down, it looks like there is a letter missing, it looks rather odd.

I don't like it, but I've heard worse.

DisElfchanted3 · 18/12/2009 15:57

shes called what dear??? jelly belly?? ella belly? hairy belly?

nawwww

MarioandLuigi · 18/12/2009 15:57

To many 'l's IMO

It sounds like a cute nickname for a Helen or Ellen or Ellie rather than a real name.

BalloonSlayer · 18/12/2009 15:59

Sorry but it sounds like someone farting in the bath.

MaggieAnFiaRua · 18/12/2009 16:01

haha!
