Well we got it down to 5 and decided to rate them scoring our favourite 5 etc - this worked really well last time as we managed to eliminate quite a few names this way - we did have Noah in there as both really like it but not see keen that seeing the names registered this year it is in the top 20 so have taken it out for now (I know some of the others are getting very popular now too!).... but the rating idea hasn't helped much as you can see!! Any thoughts? Rob now thinks we should take out the ones we both scored lowest... but I really like Devon and always have done and said I didn't want to take it out as seeing I am the one giving birth I might get my way if it stays on the list! lol

me OH Total
Tobais 4 2 6
Isaac 3 3 6
Devon 5 1 6
Lachlan 1 5 6
Logan 2 4 6

I don't really get yuor scoring system but FWIW here are my thoughts

Tobais - too poncey
Isaac - lovely if not popular
Devon - truly hideous (sorry)
Lachlan - verging on hideous
Logan 0 beyond awful.

diddl · 16/12/2009 12:28

Tobias or Isaac.

SantaClausIsComingToGlasvegas · 16/12/2009 12:34

If you're going with your scoring system, perhaps Isaac is the way to go, as it was number 3 for both of you?

RnB · 16/12/2009 12:34

Tobias - I like
Isaac - nice but popular
Devon - awful
Lachlan - even more awful
Logan - possibly even more awful

jellybeans · 16/12/2009 12:51

Tobias - not keen
Isaac - ok
Devon - awful
Lachlan - ok
Logan - like it

iwouldgoouttonight · 16/12/2009 12:54

I like Tobias (but would probably use Toby) and Isaac but not keen on the others. I would go for Isaac as neither of you dislike it and its in your top five!

MissAnneElk · 16/12/2009 13:00

I went to school with a Lachlan. I doubt if he's forgiven his parents yet - and we were in Scotland.

Gelamum · 16/12/2009 13:01

Tobais - dont like and Toby is too common
Isaac - I like this but quite a few around
Devon - I really like this but has down side
of being very unusual. fine for baby ,or toddler but may get teased a lot and stand out too much at school
Lachlan - NO yuk
Logan horrible sounds really scuzzy

I think maybe then Issac best, but Devon ok 2nd choice.
Do think of school age when choosing names as my 6 yr old has a slightly unnusual name and have noticed it is much harder to carry off that at school.

bluesatinsash · 16/12/2009 13:26

I'll return the favour!

LOVE Isaac but its DS's name and still to meet another one up here in Scotland (and he is 3).

Lochlan is lovely too and only know one other up here although I like the Scottish spelling...

Don't like Devon or Logan, they are surnames in my book...

Tobias I like but not Toby...

cece · 16/12/2009 13:59

Tobais - I think the best on your list
Isaac - OK
Devon - Don't like it at all!
Lachlan - Not sure
Logan - makes me think of 70's sci fi! so no!

cece · 16/12/2009 14:00

Oh and the only Devons I know are girls btw.

Ondine · 16/12/2009 14:40

I think Devon is awful sorry.... 'Devon knows how they make it so creamy' is not a good catchphrase to have to live with! You'll get 'is that where he was conceived' jokes as well, so it's on par with Brooklyn or Paris but less glamourous.

Logan is too American so will sound naff on a British kid imo.

The other three names are nice, compromise on Isaac maybe?

hulabula · 16/12/2009 14:42

Tobais - don't like Toby
Isacc - don't mine
Devon - I quite like this one
Lachlan - not keen
Logan - like this.

TisTheSeasonToBeHully · 16/12/2009 14:43

Am loving the scoring system. Erm, do you have lives, at all?

LouLouH · 16/12/2009 14:47

LOGAN! I don't know a child with that name. Admittedly though i do think of Hugh Jackman in X-men, but that is far from a bad thing!

mathanxiety · 16/12/2009 15:30

Personally love both Tobias and Isaac. I don't like the others except Lachlan, but not half as much as Tobias and Isaac.

LaDiDaDi · 16/12/2009 16:53

Tobias and Isaac are nice.

I think that Lachlan might get Lachy as a nn and this would put me off tbh.

PurpleEglu · 16/12/2009 17:15

Find it hilarious that people don't know any Logans and odn't think it's a name. I know a few. Don't particularly like it but wouldn't say it was hideous either.

Devon - girls name
Tobias - poncey, can you pull it off?
Isaac - boring
Lachlan - quite like.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 16/12/2009 17:35

I only like Isaac, sorry

Lachlan is OK (are you Scottish ?)

Thissideofchannel · 16/12/2009 17:41

Don't love any, I'm afraid, but if I had to choose, it would be Tobias and Isaac.

butadream · 16/12/2009 17:50

I love Tobias, if you call him this please can you use the "ias" spelling?

Devon seems to be used more as a girl's name but I have heard it has an interesting history of being used by black American soldiers for their children after they had been treated really well on their UK posting by people in Devon at a time when segregation was still in full force in the USA.

I like Isaac with Zac as a nn but have seen suggestions that it might be seen as a "naughty boy" name in school which would put me off.

Lachlan is OK but he probably would spend his life correcting other people's pronunciation or spelling of it.

Logan is not completely horrible but it is climbing the popularity charts so not sure if that is in its favour or not for you.

bellissima · 16/12/2009 18:23

Tobias or Isaac again
