So, Welsh boys names?

Inspired by the Osian thread and the Welsh girls names thread...

I already have a Ioan Dafydd (and a Gruffudd and Macsen in the family) so that's off the table.

Quite like Steffan. Like Osian a lot but DH doesn't.

What are everyone elses fave welsh boys names?

My boys have Welsh middle names: Iestyn and Taliesin.

MrsGravy · 13/12/2009 18:06

Lovely names llareggub! I really like Taliesin actually. Will discuss it with DH later!

Tegid.

MamiBabi · 13/12/2009 18:29

Caradog is my favourite.

And I love Ianto and Iago.

Or Guto.

Caio?

GetDownYouWillFall · 13/12/2009 18:31

My brother is Emlyn

MrsGravy · 13/12/2009 18:36

Well I've never heard of Tegid - not sure about that one!

I've always loved Iago though...and Guto!

Thanks

Never heard of Tegid? Have you never watched Pobol Y Cwm? I went to college with a Tegid, proper hill-farming gog lad.

(In Pobol Y Cwm circa 1997, Tegid was married to the landlady of the pub - can't remember her name, but she was one of those scarlet type women who'd had multiple lovers! )

MamiBabi · 13/12/2009 20:04

Have a Guto - I wasn't allowed a Guto but bump turned out to be a DD anyway but I've got plans to have a Guto in the future...

MamiBabi · 13/12/2009 20:05

She was called Jean by the way skihorse

MrsGravy · 13/12/2009 20:30

Skihorse - yes I remember now! Wasn't he mostly just called Teg though? Didn't realise that was short for Tegid! I am actually named after the actress who played Jean! My mum went to college with her and liked her name.

Also

Tomos
Taliesin
Berian
Huw
Gethin

mejon · 13/12/2009 21:10

Mrs Gravy - I've just spent ages trying to remember the actress' name! Wedi cofio o'r diwedd!

I like Iolo but in view of the above probably not suitable.

Guto - another vote from me
Ianto
Tomos
Morgan
Gerallt
Arwel
Arwyn
Dyfrig
Brychan

Lionstar · 13/12/2009 21:13

Bryn is a classic, and works OK for the Sais too , or Gareth.

kalo12 · 13/12/2009 21:15

Taran

MrsGravy · 13/12/2009 21:36

Diolch pawb! Lots of great suggestions. Not sure my English in laws could cope with Brychan - which is a shame as it's another fave. So is Iori but I think Ioan and Iori might get a bit confusing??

I like Taran too - there's one in DD's class.

Problem is getting DS to agree to anything...sigh...

MrsKitty · 13/12/2009 21:54

Llewellyn
Ianto
Huw

LaTrucha · 13/12/2009 22:00

Griffith - or Griff - it's my brother's middle name and I think it's cool.

Aled - simple, clear lovely.

I also love Meirion and Mereddydd but probably too 'girly' to get away with now.

Oooo loads....

TheHouseofMirth · 13/12/2009 22:00

DH is Welsh but we live in England so chose names which were easy to pronounce but with a nod to their Welsh heritage. We have an Ellis Osian (wish I'd been brave enough to have it the other way round though) and a Tarran who was almost an Aneurin.

LaTrucha · 13/12/2009 22:01

sorry - spelt that last one worngly!

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 13/12/2009 22:05

I've got English family so the names we went for between our 2 boys are Aled, Rhys, Wyn and Evan (each has a first name and a middle name)
