Hi, what do you think of my shortlist for girls? I asked my mum today and she said "well, ummm, I like Daisy"

Josephine Joy
Juniper Joy
Clementine Daisy
Violet Faith

I have been thinking names for too long and none of them excite me anymore!

DH and I both like Mabel too

I am likely to have a stocky child with huge grey eyes and ginger hair if DS is anything to go by. He is very gentle, thoughtful and friendly and is called Barnaby.

Last name is full of L's and S's

Barnaby is such a great name!!

Clementine or Violet are my favourite from your list and I would use the middle name Joy which is lovely.

Barnaby and Clem sound lovely together

JaneiteMightBite · 11/12/2009 18:24

I love Barnaby.

Josephine Joy
Juniper Joy
Clementine Daisy
Violet Faith

I like lots of the names you've suggested but not in that order iykwim. My favourite is Violet Joy. I love Faith and Daisy too but don't like Juniper.

I think Josephine with nn Josie is my fav.....how long have you got to decide ?

boodleboot · 11/12/2009 22:28

Barnaby and Mabel sounds AMAZING ....

Heated · 11/12/2009 22:31

Clementine or Mabel are fab.

I like Joy for the mn.

MakemineaGandT · 11/12/2009 22:39

Josephine is my favourite. I know quite a few little Violets and Clementines - it can seem a bit "trying hard to be different" I think. Juniper is not good, sorry.

Josephine on the other hand is beautiful and there are lots of lovely nicknames - Jo, Josie, Jojo....

dizzycringles · 11/12/2009 23:55

lovel Violent and Josephine

bellissima · 12/12/2009 10:50

Hmmm - now I am the mother of a red head so I say this most affectionately but - Clementine with ginger hair????

Also agree Make - trying to hard with Clementine, Violet (don't like 'Vi') and Juniper (also a red berry?) - Josephine nicest.

bellissima · 12/12/2009 10:51

too hard even

dizzycringles · 12/12/2009 23:26

Violet could be lottie or lettie

Plutothatpresentdown · 12/12/2009 23:35

Really don't like Juniper or Violet

Mabel and Clementine meh

Josephine gets my vote.

LaDiDaDi · 12/12/2009 23:39

I like Mabel and Juniper; Mabel is great.

Violet Faith makes me hear Violent Faith, so not good imo.

HelewiseWoolf · 13/12/2009 00:51

I hear Violent faith too, puts in mind of religious fervour etc

Clementine Daisy is pretty.

Josephine is okay, but love Posy nn, Juniper; dislike nick names and there's gin connection.

I have a Mabel, so obviously like that. Not sure is a great match stylistically with Barnaby, slightly 'b' heavy.

mathanxiety · 13/12/2009 01:21

Josephine Joy
Juniper Joy
Clementine Daisy
Violet Faith

I love Josephine Mabel? Also Clementine Joy? Juniper Joy sounds a bit like jumping for joy. Don't like Violet, Daisy or Faith, or combinations thereof.

Barnaby is such a great name, btw.

TotallyAndUtterlyPaninied · 13/12/2009 12:12

It's GOT to be Violet Faith. Please.

audley · 14/12/2009 09:59

Thanks for all your comments, I rather like some of your suggestions for mixing up the order of names, I particularly like Josephine Mabel and Mabel Joy. I like the fact that Juniper Joy sounds like Jump for Joy, and the nn June.

DH came up with Holly, Jean and Ellie yesterday, none of which I would like to use, but he so rarely suggests anything I need to take note! My absolute favourites are Jemima and Tabitha (and secretly Araminta) but he is not keen at all.

We are looking for a name that ideally has a beautiful Sunday version but a usable nick name, that has a nice meaning...Any other suggestions?

I think I agree with your mother sorry

audley · 14/12/2009 11:47

Yes, I like Daisy too, but we can't use it as a first name, because (and I know this is a little odd) my DH is known as Daisy!

Jemima and Tabitha are both lovely names. We were quite taken with Tabitha but we're going for Faith Juliet.

audley · 14/12/2009 13:39

Ooh yes I saw your post, Faith Juliet is gorgeous, well done you!
