Love this name for a boy but worried people will assume he's a girl when abbreviated to Cass. Also, how would you pronounce Cassius -as it looks or Cash-us??

Another meaning is "a protective case" and our Cassius came into the world in his caul so it was very appropriate!

We call him Cass quite a lot I don't think of that as feminine at all but then I would say that.

The power of mumsnet. When I first saw this name I thought 'como?' with a face like manuel from Fawlty Towers to match, but now it has really grown on me.

I'd heard of it, but only ever wrt muhammed ali, the notion of choosing it as a name wouldn't have occurred to me a year ago. But I 'get' it now. It's a 'grower'.
