On my first pg I thought I would call a DD Iris.
I thought and still do think it is one of the most beautiful names
However since then I have a work colleague called Iris - she's a bit annoying TBH.
So now wouldn't dream of calling a DD that.

I also think my boys names list will be different this time around.

yes definitely. The boy's name I wanted if DD1 had been a girl was struck off the list this time round as I'd gone off it - no particular reason but I just didn't like it that much any more.

diddl · 10/12/2009 11:39

No.
When pregnant the first time, we both only liked one boys name & one girls name.

Fortunately 2nd baby was a girl as we never did come up with another boys name!

Yes - i have had a different favourite boy and girls name for each of 4 babies.

I've never 'carried them over'...the novelty of them has worn off each time and i have always associated them with that baby/pregnancy. Yet i still love the names we did end up with and haven't gone off them IYKWIM

Yes, I've got two boys, and didn't "carry over" any of the names. I think it's about seeing each baby, and each pregnancy, as distinct (I knew the sex of the baby beforehand both times, BTW)

Ineedsomesleep · 10/12/2009 20:08

Yes they did change. Loved a few names the first time, none of which we liked the second time.

girlsyearapart · 10/12/2009 20:10

yep for dd1 we had Henry for a boy and for dd2 we had Joseph. No idea why we changed because I like them both..

katnkittens · 11/12/2009 01:31

Totally changed. But there is 14 years between my first and my current (4th) pregnancy.

I was only 16 the first time... I'm kind of pleased my taste has changed!

Yes, each pregnancy was associated with different names.
I am struggling for a boys name this time as we considered so many for ds.

ben5 · 11/12/2009 13:59

had a couple of names for ds1 but choose name when i saw him( husband agreed with name when he finally caught up with us. he was on a submarine when i gave birth early and he liked the name i choose). we choose ds2 name before hubby went to sea and was planning to be away for second birth( we also had a girls name ready because we didn't want to know sex of child beore hand). we liked both names but wounldn't of made a list if circumstances were different
