Ok, I need serious help!!

We know we are having a girl, DD3 (!) but we are really struggling for names. There are names we like but nothing that really jumps out at me... My other dds are Lily and Jessica and my dh won't consider anything too unusual (bah humbug)

We like Anna/Annie but it doesn't really sound right with my surname... hoping to use as a middle name. Anneli caught my eye somewhere (sounds fine with surname) but it looks a bit like urm anally ??

Ruby - I like but am worried it will date quickly, it's supposed to be very popular but I actually don't know any.

Isabella Bella or Izzy for short.. probably one of mine and DH's faves

Cassie - Need some advice... I don't like Cassandra as reminds me too much of 'Only Fools'. I love Cassie though, could it stand alone or be short for anything else?

Esme - I think I really like it, but would be interested in opinions.

Plus any other suggestions would be nice

Amelie?

I know 4 Rubys, 3 Izzys (not a fan of that I'm afraid) a Bella and an Esme.
Love Esme.

Wait until she appears -- a name often suggests itself as you look into her face! Its often as if they have their name stamped somehow upon their expression I think!You can get away with calling her Baby for a day or two until you register her birth!

onceyoung.. My dd1 didn't have a name for about a week! In fact she was called something totally different for about a day until then DP decided he didn't like it so she went back to 'baby'.

lockets, I do like Martha but I don't LOVE it.

Just remembered a couple more we liked -

Antonia not keen on shortening it to Toni though

Sophia - my Grandmother's name, I think it's really pretty.

I really like Sophia, as in Soph-eye- a, but then if you choose it you will get into debate here with others who think it should be pronounced like the capital of Bulgaria.

Prefer Isobel to Isabella - I know I'm being a hypocrite having just voted for Sophia but I think Isabella has too many bells and whistles (or rather 'a's) if you are English. Or maybe you are Italian or Spanish? - in which case Antonia also okay.

Ruby = 'my parents actually work in accounting but are would be arty student types'. See also Lola. Cassie a bit the same.

Not keen on Martha/Thea/Saskia et al. see them as kindly twinkly Mrs Bridges cook names but not children's names somehow.

How about Annelies, Anneliese or Annelise? Or Anastasia? Annabel? I like Esme a lot. There are a lot of Isabelle/Isabella/Isobels around, same with Ruby. Cassie is nice, but I can only think of Cassandra as a formal name, maybe Alexandra at a stretch.

Esme is lovely, agree Ruby is very popular at the moment and i know a REALLY ANNOYING Isabella so that puts me right off!

Not a big fan of Cassie but Callie is nice.

Esme is going to be/is the next big thing so would avoid this. It will be top 20 within the next few years I think.

Anna and Annie are really nice

I love Cassie - it has been suggested to me as a NN for Catherine. I have a Katherine, so not an option for me, but if we'd gone with the 'C' spelling I'd be using Cassie for her.

OMG about Esme! I have one and when we named her people asked if we had made it up! She is a bit older though, so it was a while ago...

I have always liked the name Cally after watching Blakes Seven!

Anna was on our list for DC3 but he was a boy!

Also on our list was Verity.

Isabella/Esme/Ruby - too popular and 'in vogue' for my tastes.

Cassie could grow on me. How about Carrie?

If you like Esme, how about Edie?

How about Anneka? A friend of mine's daughter is called that, and I think it lovely... just doesn't go with our surname...

From your original list Isabella and Esme are nice, but your best suggestion is Sophie - lovely.

Jamie I like Lydia, I forgot about that one, will have to run it past DH.

Surprised to hear Esme is popular, I don't know any apart from one of my granny's friends

Edie could grow on me but reminds me of her in desp housewives a bit...

Anna is still my fave I think, I like Annalise but is it not a bit to much? She would probs get Anna all the time anyway but I need to lenghten it to go with my surname which has 2 n's in it.

we considered Cassia when we were having DD3 - do you prefer that to Cassandra?

what about Ismay? a mix of Esme and Isabella but could give you the nn Issy
