Girl list. Quite long!

No siblings to match with - she's my first.

Looking for a name that won't go out of fashion and is sophisticated and she will be proud to have!

What do you think of my list??

Alice
Emily
Daisy
Charlotte
Evie
Lily
Eliza
Annabel
Isla
Jenna
Martha
Esme
Lil a
Willow

All so lovely huh? Which should I ditch and what are your faves?

EvilTwinsStoleSantasSleigh · 08/12/2009 16:31

I've got a Daisy and an Emily, so obviously I love those. Was worried there would be hoards of Emilys, but so far so good. I also like Alice and Isla. Evie is very popular round here, and I know several Charlottes. Not so keen on Willow or Lila.

All very nice though really.

MrsMattie · 08/12/2009 16:36

I love Eliza and Emily.

Alice, Charlotte, Annabel, Martha and Lily are sweet (Lily ever so popular, though)

I like Eve, but not keen on Evie and again, ridiculously popular these days.

Really dislike Isla (overdone), Esme (ditto), Lila (much prefer Leila), Willow (sounds like an animal's name) and Jenna (too American and 80s-tastic).

RnB · 08/12/2009 16:36

birdofthenorth · 08/12/2009 16:53

Love Esme, Alice and Emilly most from your list

loobylu3 · 08/12/2009 16:59

Alice- beautiful- my sister's name- never goes out of fashion
Emily- nice and classic but it is popular
Daisy- I do love Daisy.
Charlotte- lovely classic, won't date, it is popular where I live too.
Evie- pretty but v current and popular- Eve or Evelyn might be a better choice.
Lily- v pretty and popular.
Eliza- I love Eliza!
Annabel- lovely classic, won't date either and less popular than some on your list.
Isla- okay, becoming v popular
Jenna- dislike
Martha- okay
Esme- okay
Lil a- okay
Willow- no
The names that fit your 'criteria' above are: Alice, Emily, Charlotte, Eliza and Annabel (possibly Daisy and Lily although less sophisticated than the others).

Have you thought of Beatrice, Claudia, Susannah, Katharine, Rosalind, Miranda? They are all less popular classics and may therefore not date quite as much.

MrsVik · 08/12/2009 17:25

Alice -- Love, a classic
Emily -- too popular
Daisy -- too frou frou and popular
Charlotte -- Love, a classic
Evie -- too popular
Lily -- too popular
Eliza -- Love, a classic
Annabel -- Love, a classic
Isla -- Like a lot, Scottish
Jenna -- Dislike
Martha -- Dislike
Esme -- Like a lot, Scottish
Lil a -- Like even though it's popular
Willow -- Love

So, Alice, Charlotte, Eliza, Annabel, Isla, Esme, Lila, Willow (though I prefer Hazel as tree names go).

CarmenSanDiego · 08/12/2009 18:05

Snowtiger · 08/12/2009 18:10

Eliza or Esme are my favourites.

MamaLazarou · 08/12/2009 18:20

Most of them are quite fashionable, to be honest. The most classic-sounding are Charlotte and Annabel.

Hulababy · 08/12/2009 19:02

Alice - classic name, not too over popular here
Emily - classic name, quite popular
Daisy - pretty name, I like this, getting more popular though
Charlotte - nice, like nn as Lottie not Charlie though
Evie - lovely name
Lily - pretty name, again quite popular
Eliza - prefer Elisabeth
Annabel - very popular, like nn Anna
Isla - nice
Jenna - don't like this
Martha - my favourite
Esme - not keen
Lila - prefer Lily
Willow - quite like this

Biscuits28 · 09/12/2009 10:52

Alice - My name; hated it when I was younger, like it now.
Emily - Like it but a bit boring
Daisy - Like it
Charlotte - Love it
Evie - Like it
Lily - all over the place
Eliza - Love it
Annabel - Don't like
Isla - Don't like
Jenna - Don't like
Martha - Love it; sister's name
Esme - Ok
Lil a - Ok
Willow - Don't like, reminds me of the film

Cortina · 09/12/2009 11:05

Alice - OK. Traditional and safe.

Emily - Overused, especially in 90s, so now dull to my ears. Classic though and safe again.

Daisy - Daisy, give me your answer do. Sweet and a nice NM but a bit maid in the 19th Century IMO.

Charlotte - a strong, classic name but poss not that exciting.

Evie - prefer Evelyn - now too many about too.

Lily - see comments on Daisy re: 19th Century.

Eliza - I like this a lot.

Annabel - less of them than Isabel etc. Quite like.

Isla - St Clair. Seriously, quite nice but doesn't grab me.

Jenna - Dallas

Martha - Ok

Esme - in the league of Daisy and Lilly.

Lil a - Too many around and the various variants also makes me think of Kate Moss's DD

Willow - OK. The bohemian's choice of the early 00s to my mind.

Personally like Eliza the best.

bellissima · 09/12/2009 11:36

Alice, Emily, Charlotte - all classic (had great aunts thus named!).

Daisy - yes but as nn for Marguerite. It's a child's or affectionate name. Eliza - as nn for Elizabeth.

Evie, Lily, Esme, Isla - well as others have said, very popular, nowt wrong with them though. Martha I think sounds a bit worthy and dull.

Annabel, Lila, Willow, Jenna - nope.
