Boys name - what do you think?

We are finding it hard to settle on a boy's name.

What do you think of Milo (German, a shortened version of Miles)?

I really like Elian, by my partner thinks it would get shortened to Ellie, which is obviously a bit girlie. Do you agree?

Any other suggestions along these lines?

Thanks!

Milo okay but makes me think of the tweenies. Agree about the shortening of Elian.

How about Eli/Elias/Elijah?

Does it need to be German for specific reasons?

overthemoon2009 · 02/12/2009 12:34

Didn't realise it was a Tweenies character (have never watched Tweenies, but just googled). That means it is definitely out.

No, it doesn't have to be German at all. Elian is Spanish. Just giving some background.

Agree with your partner about Ellie. What about Caspar, Pedro, Seth or Gregory ?

MrsVik · 02/12/2009 15:57

How about Elliot?

Maltesesunshine · 02/12/2009 16:08

I like Milo and Elian.

bluebump · 02/12/2009 16:10

I like Milo

diddl · 02/12/2009 16:11

I like Milo.

Tweenies won´t be around forever!

Besom · 02/12/2009 16:15

I like Milo. So what if there's Milo in the tweenies? There's also a Jake and a Bella - so what?

Pineapplechunks · 02/12/2009 16:20

I like Milo too and quite like Miles.

MisSalToeKisses · 02/12/2009 16:27

Sorry, Milo was my favorite drink when I grew up, so not too keen for that reason. If I didn't have that connection (which most people won't), that would have been my choice out of those two options.

Elliot is good?

cece · 02/12/2009 16:34

Milo is a hot chocolate drink to me too.

I agree with your DH about Elian too. If you like that sort of thing you could have Ellis instead I suppose.

Personally I like more 'normal' sort of names like John and Tom

diddl · 02/12/2009 17:43

I think there are few names that someone won´t find a fault with.

If you really like a name-go with it-perhaps unless it´s obviously made up!

choosyfloosy · 02/12/2009 17:44

I think Milo is great.

mummyof1butnotforlong · 02/12/2009 21:15

Alic?

ilovesprouts · 03/12/2009 10:49

i like it

PracticalCat · 03/12/2009 12:21

What about Elia? Similar but less likely to be shortened to Ellie. I'd love to use it but can't.

CuppaTeaJanice · 03/12/2009 12:32

How about Miller if you think Milo is too Tweeniefied.

cannotdecide · 04/12/2009 23:39

Milo fine, Elian girlie. Elija better? Seth?

lovechoc · 08/12/2009 15:35

Tweenies comes to mind, sorry.

MmeLindt · 08/12/2009 15:46

Milo might be a German name but have never met a German called Milo (lived there for many years, married to a German).

Other names that are similar in style in Germany are

Arno

Caspar

Felix

Jonah

What about Milan?
I love the name. It was on my shortlist when I had DS2.
