Clementine Pearl for a December baby?

Have decided on Clementine Pearl.
Made the mistake of telling people and have had one or two comments of "How seasonal!"

What do you think?
General thoughts and comments on the name would be appreciated too. We received another comment that it was fashionable at the moment too?

I know we shouldn't listen to people, but forewarned....

I think it is seasonal too, I know another Christmas Clem. But so what, if you love it you love it.

mathanxiety · 29/11/2009 03:50

Beautiful names. Listen only to the nice comments and remember this is your baby after all. The name doesn't really matter all that much to anyone else beyond the few seconds it takes them to make a comment.

MamaLazarou · 29/11/2009 09:17

Lovely name. Good point in above post by mathanxiety - people will make throwaway comments with no intention to wound. Best not to tell anyone til the baby's actually born, IMO.

fluffyfudge · 29/11/2009 13:31

I don't think Clementines are necessarily synonymous with Christmas.
I wouldn't think of asking a Clementine if this was the season she was born, it just wouldn't occur to me.

LetThereBeRock · 29/11/2009 14:00

I don't like the name at all but I wouldn't think of it as a seasonal name.

bellissima · 29/11/2009 14:06

Agree LetThereBeRock - on both counts. And Pearl's becoming as much of a default mn as Grace and Rose.

Now, Tangerine Dream - there's a chrimbo night theme.

Besom · 29/11/2009 14:15

I like Clementine. I've never thought of it as a seasonal name. So what if it is, anyway?

Jamieandhismagictorch · 29/11/2009 17:57

I think it's a lovely name. And it wouldn't immediately occur to me as being seasonal.

Now if it was Satsuma Rudolph .....

LaGringa · 29/11/2009 18:25

Hmm, you have selected two nouns for your daughter's name. Is this something that you think will worry her when she grows up?

moondog · 29/11/2009 18:26

I think it's gorgeous, really gorgeous.
I've just had to say it out loud, that's how gorgeous it is.

moondog · 29/11/2009 18:27

What would you suggest then Gringa?

A noun and a verb?
A conjunction and an adjective?

LaGringa · 29/11/2009 18:35

Just one noun, and anything else you prefer. The smarter girls at school would obviously tease a child with two nouns in her name, once they know what they are.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 29/11/2009 18:38

Really LaGringa ? Girls really ARE beatches if that's the case ?

Jamieandhismagictorch · 29/11/2009 18:39

Oh, God, I've used an unnecessary question mark !

choosyfloosy · 29/11/2009 18:41

HAHAHAHAHHAh lagringa

What a beautiful name. Never even occurred to me re seasonal. Don't tell anyone else if you can avoid it...

controlfreakythecontrolfreak · 29/11/2009 18:42

have you thought of getting some professional help lagringa?

LaGringa · 29/11/2009 18:48

No, but I also avoided current trends by not giving my child two flower names as well.

catinthehat2 · 29/11/2009 18:48

I see your Tangerine Dream and I raise you with Lemon Jelly

SoupDragon · 29/11/2009 18:50

I don't like it for any season of baby.

HuwEdwards · 29/11/2009 18:53

Sounds like an aged stallholder from a market
in sarf london.

But maybe that's what you're after...wouldn't occur to me that it was seasonal.

Hulababy · 29/11/2009 18:57

LOL at idea that people will teach a child with nouns are her name

If that truely sis the case then I have never come across it, depsite working in schools for well over 10 years.

Children will tease and taunt for many reasons, which I have seen - but for nouns in names????

littledawley · 29/11/2009 18:57

Clementine shortened to Clem or Clemmie is so, so lovely. I wouldn't have thought of it as seasonal but I think it's nice to have the reference towards a winter birthday. Gorgeous

LaGringa · 29/11/2009 18:58

Or calling my boys Cooper Hunter etc. A name is for life, and has to smooth your way through school, work, travel, romance etc etc. That's why I raised the question as to whether this child would be bothered by two nouns. She may not. Others may notice it though.
